Kolaportið is the only and at the same time the largest flea market in Iceland, open on weekends from 11 a.m. This tradition goes back over 20 years, when the market was in a different location and the main raw material was fish. Nowadays, this is primarily a multi functional market where people of all categories meet, the elderly come here to reminisce about the good old days with a cup of coffee
and a cake, the young come here to create new stories and buy toys, tourists come here to taste dried fish or do the shark & Brennivín challenge at the bar. Seasonally, you can also find all kinds of rare things here, such as whale meat, horse meat sausages, different eggs as seagull and more. Hand-made products are sold here from local artists, such as woollen sweaters made of high-quality wool called lopapeysa, jewellery made of lava stones, fish skin, photographers come here to sell their prints of beautiful photos taken all over Iceland. On a cold or rainy day, our market is a heaven for people looking for fun and good people. We have Icelandic paintings exhibited and for sale. You can find gems and just all kinds of everything in the oldest part of the market. Our part is also the rental of our space called as Salur where everything is on the wheels and can be moved away in case of events. We had various events happening here from Icelandic Airwaves to smaller concerts and conferences.
