Sagafilm Production Service

Sagafilm Production Service A leading production company in the Icelandic film industry, Sagafilm is known for innovation, quality and talent. Do you need snow in the summer?

Our staff is experienced and dedicated, respecting all projects, from the small and simple to the most complex feature. We’ve been making films for almost forty years. At Sagafilm we love what we do; it’s a way of life. ICELAND
Iceland is volcanic and geologically active, a paradise of endless location possibilities. The interior boasts a vast plateau of sand and lava fields with mountains and gla

ciers. Glacial rivers rush through the lowlands to the sea. Daylight around the clock? Natural hot springs, magical mists, roaring waterfalls? These are just some of the possibilities presented in Iceland and many of these scenarios are a only a short distance away from the capital city of Reykjavik. A feast for your eyes and senses, Iceland’s often surreal reality exists and is perfectly located for your production needs. FINANCING THAT REWARDS YOU
The Icelandic Government offers a 25% rebate on all production costs incurred for feature films, TV productions and documentaries. To make things even easier, we will charge you 75% for our services and collect the rest from the State Treasury ourselves when they have finished the paperwork – which we help you fill out. This is probably the easiest 25% financing you’ve ever received. In addition to the 25% tax rebate, we have contact with investors interested in financing feature films and TV programs. Projects are evaluated individually based on the investor’s interest. Often we are able to find an additional 10-15% funding for the projects we participate in. ICELANDIC DIRECTORS
In 2013 Sagafilm produced more than thirty big ad campaigns. Our directors have years of experience working with some of the biggest brands in the world, as well as emerging ones. Gudjon Jonsson
Gudjon has been called the Swiss Army knife of Icelandic directors – if an idea seems impossible, he will tell you how it can be done. He has directed campaigns for international companies such as Vodafone, Icelandair, and Shell, as well as some of the biggest Icelandic banks and insurance companies. POST PRODUCTION POSSIBILITIES
Sagafilm’s post production department can literally scale mountains and slay dragons. We’ve got fully-equipped off- and on-line editing suites, colour correction, sound, and graphics suites, as well as the professional staff to insure your post production goes smoothly. We offer post for your whole film, or part of it. In addition, you can take advantage of our suites, offices and/or technical assistance and advice while prepping, shooting and finishing. As far as emotional support when needed, we go the extra mile. LOG LINE
Sagafilm produces an amazing assortment of formats every year: scripted and non-scripted TV series, live broadcasts, documentaries and motion pictures. Our long and diverse experience of filmmaking, respect for every project, easy communication and joie de vivre make Sagafilm a natural choice when choosing a partner in production services and co-production in Iceland.

Iceland raises re-imbursement to 35%

Now Iceland offers reimbursement of up to 35% of the costs incurred during the production of films and television programs in Iceland. Based on a special legislation, the reimbursement scheme is simple, transparent, and effective.

Production costs refer to all costs incurred in Iceland deductible from the revenues of enterprises pursuant to the provisions of the Act on Income Tax.

All productions for feature films, TV shows and documentaries in Iceland are eligible for a 25% refund, no matter the total cost of the project but to receive 35% a production must fulfil three requirements:

1. Production costs incurred in the production of the motion picture or television material concerned in this country must be a minimum of ISK 350 million.

2. The project in question must have a minimum of 30 working days in Iceland, either consisting of actual film production (shooting) days or defined post-production working days. Of the 30 working days, a minimum of 10 shooting days in Iceland is however always required.

3. The number of staff working directly on the project shall be 50 at a minimum and this work shall amount to 50 working days. It is a requirement that both salary and payments to employees and contractors, shall be taxed in Iceland.

Sagafilm has a long-time experience in servicing foreign shoots in Iceland besides its own drama productions over the year. Furthermore, Sagafilm operates a Postproduction facility which qualifies as a part of manpower provided for the services.

Sagafilm is the oldest running production company in Iceland and has serviced production for major studios and titles like James Bond, Interstellar, Star-Trek, Batman and numerous more. We welcome your inquiries into these new opportunities that come along with 35% re-imbursement in Iceland. We know how!

From 15 May professionals arriving in Iceland, including filmmakers, will be eligible for a modified quarantine with specific limitations and criteria. This allows companies to request an exemption from home quarantine provided they comply with extensive requirements around their environment and enact safety procedures on production sites.

No later than 15 June 2020 further easing of restrictions is planned. Travelers are then expected to be given a choice between a two-week quarantine or being tested for the virus upon arrival, or otherwise proving that they are free of coronavirus infection.

Halló from Iceland! Commercials for the US-based skyr producer Icelandic Provisions with the award-winning agency Circus Maximus Advertising.
Directed by the talented Haukur Björgvinsson, the commercials were shot on the south coast of Iceland and close to the capital Reykjavík.

Icelandic Provisions is rolling out its first national advertising campaign created, in part, to answer the questions ‘what is Skyr?’ and ‘how do you say the word ‘Skyr?’
