Independent People: Collaborations and Artist Initiatives Reykjavik Arts Festival 2012 In its 40-year-old history, the festival has hosted many outstanding international artists and performers.

The Reykjavík Arts Festival is held every year in May and is one of the oldest and most respected arts festivals in Northern Europe. The festival is recognized as a premiere venue for outstanding acts in music, theatre, dance, and literature as well in the contemporary visual arts. nd guests each year in May. Festival Director is Hrefna Haraldsdóttir. After successful festivals with focus on the visual arts in 2005, curated by Jessica Morgan and Björn Roth, and 2008, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and Olafur Eliasson, the visual arts focus 2012 is curated by Jonatan Habib Engqvist and produced in collaboration between The Reykjavik Arts Festival, the Living Art Museum, Reykjavik Art Museum, The Icelandic National Gallery and The Nordic House in Reykjavík.
