Post-húsið

Post-húsið Post-house is an artist-run not-for-profit DIT/DIY venue space situated in Skeljanes 21, 102 Reykjavík. PLEASE READ ADDITIONAL INFO BELOW It’s just more fun.

The main goal of post-house is to organize varied event’s to foster a community of both new and outstanding artists / musicians and enthusiasts, local and international, in order to enrich the musical / artistic culture of Iceland and pave the way for a thriving scene bursting out into the post-2020 era. We place a big emphasis on promoting new and experimental music. The venue is situated by the

sea in Skerjafjörður behind the airport. Bus nr. 12 goes directly and ours is the last stop. Post-house has a safer-space policy that event goers are encouraged to educate themselves on before coming. Our Safer-Space Policy
In the spirit of D.I.T we want to do our best to make the post-house as safe as we can. Respecting each other creates value for everyone! Be responsible for your own actions. They have an effect on others. Examine your own subtle and not-so-subtle prejudices. If you or others are using drugs or alcohol they may be affecting yours’ and others behaviors and decisions around consent. Any individual or group engaging in violence (including sexual violence and harassment) or who threatens another’s safety within the space will automatically be excluding themselves. We will ask them to leave the space. If you experience or witness any behavior that crosses your boundaries or makes you feel uncomfortable, or if you are feeling like you would like to talk to someone anonymously about anything, please talk to us. Either the person in the merch booth, the door, or a marked safe space volunteer. Take responsibility for your own safety and get help if you need it. Remember that explicit verbal consent is the best way to make sure you have consent. To be clear, the post house does not welcome gender-based and sexual harassment, abuse, assault, misogyny, homophobia, transmisogyny, transphobia, racism, xenophobia, ableism, fatphobia, ageism, classism, and bigotry in all its forms. Some of our event’s are All-ages, some are Age-restricted. The venue is still being built and many things need to get done. This will require financial support from the community to make it happen. Most DIY spaces in the world disappear or lose their charm because of financial struggles, we want to be smart about it to keep post-house alive for the longest amount of time possible. As a standard, a ticket fee will be accepted at the door. We might opt for a patreon membership or something similar in the future for community members who like what we do and would like to support us in exchange for free admittance. All money from events is split 60/40 (60% to the artist, 40% to the house fund and labour). We recognise that people come from varied economic backgrounds, and will not discriminate by that, so if you are unable to meet the ticket price please let us know at [email protected] and we’ll make sure you receive the same access to culture as other people. There is currently a single entrance door plus a huge garage door. We are having a fire-door being installed from the city very soon. The entrance door is, as of now, not wheelchair accessible. We’re working on it, and would appreciate any help from the community in that regard. We do not have a licence to sell alcohol. There is only one bathroom which is gender neutral. We recently got a grant and are preparing for adding another one. The house and all bookings are managed by post-dreifing collective members. For inquiries and bookings send us a message to [email protected]

Event’s will be advertised via the post-dreifing facebook site and .dreifing on instagram.
