Þessi vikulanga vinnustofa mun beina sjónum að aðferðum við aðlögun leikverka sem byggja á grískri goðafræði. Með því að nýta grundvallar lögmál sviðsetningar og skapandi skrif munum við kanna vinsælar goðsagnir og frummyndir (þar á meðal sögur úr grískri og norrænni goðafræði) sem hafa lifað af menningarlegar umbreytingar svo öldum skiptir og fundið sér leið inn sviðslistir samtímans.

A new opera by Helgi R. Ingvarsson on the topic of the world's end and fate of the gods will have its world premier on October 25th, directed by Pálína Jónsdóttir at HARPA Concert Hall.

Do you want to learn more about Icelandic heritage and listen to amazing music in the stunning Northern lights music hall (Norðurljós) in Harpa? There is a show coming up there that is written in both English and Icelandic.

Ragnarok: fate of the gods, is a new Icelandic opera based on Norse mythology and the poetic Edda. The Poetic Edda is a 10th century collection of texts and poems, important because they are a primary source for Old Norse mythology, providing details on gods like Odin, heroic tales, and the creation and destruction of the world (Ragnarok).

If you are at all interested in Icelandic culture, language and heritage, but also appreciate a leg up with the occasional English here and there, then this show might be for you.

The Summer Solstice Workshop this year "Approaching Chekhov" directed by the theatre virtuoso Brian Kulick had its culminating moment in an open rehearsal for audiences at Tjarnarbíó. Brian and the actors worked on scenes from The Seagull and Three Sisters employing active analyses and physical gestures to the scene work. The participating actors; Björk Guðmundsdóttir, Brynhildur Guðjónsdóttir, Júlía Hannam, María Ellingsen, Pálína Jónsdóttir, Rósa Guðný Þórsdóttir and Þórey Eyrarrós Sórúnar Sigþórsdóttir, had the best time unlocking the secret codes of Chekhov's incredibly exciting work in front of the audiences. We would like to thank Brian Kulick, the group of actors and audiences, our collaborators Tjarnarbíó and Dansverkstæðið for their art and crafty contribution to the Summer Solstice Workshop Series.
