(English below) Ken Steen er tónskáld og prófessor við Hartford háskólann í Connecticut í Bandaríkjunum. Hann hefur tengst Íslandi sterkum böndum og tekið þátt í nokkrum tónlistarhátíðum hér. Ken dvaldi á Gullkistunni árið 2013 við tónsmíðar og árið 2015 kom hann með hóp nemenda sem héldu nokkra tónleika, m.a. í Menntaskólanum að Laugarvatni, Skálholti og í Bókakaffinu á Selfossi. Þetta myndband segir frá þeirri ferð.
Ken tekur þátt í tónlistarhátiðinni Seiglu í ágúst nk þar sem nýtt verk eftir hann verður frumflutt.

Ken Steen is a composer and professor emiritus at the University of Hartford in Connecticut, USA. He has strong ties to Iceland and has participated in several music festivals here. Ken stayed at Gullkistan in 2013 to compose music, and in 2015 he brought a group of students who gave several concerts, including at Laugarvatn High School, Skálholt, and at the Book Café in Selfoss. This video tells the story of that trip.
A new piece by Ken will be premiered at the Seigla music festival in Reykjavík this coming August.

There are now 6 days left of the funding project Support High-Speed Internet for Gullkistan – A creative Lifeline
On January 1st when the 700th artist arrived at Gullkistan, the installation of the high fiber internet connection was all set up. Thanks to an incredibly swift and generous response we soon reached the minimum amount we set as our goal (4000 €) and the total amount now is 5660 Euros. We are forever grateful for the warm wishes and support
The total cost of the project is 6.800 Euros and we are now reaching out for the last time.
Help us spread the word and help us get closer to the final cost. It is possible to give direct support, become an owner of artworks by Baniprosonno or secure yourself, or someone you believe in, a stay at Gullkistan. The Gullkistan children’s books are all sold out but will soon be made available on our site for those who missed out.
If the pledges reach more than needed, the extra will be used for other maintenance to make Gullkistan an even better place for the artists.

Þann 1. janúar, þegar 700. listamaðurinn kom til Gullkistunnar, var uppsetning ljósleiðarans að fullu lokið. Þökk sé ótrúlega skjótum og rausnarlegum viðbrögðum náðum við fljótt lágmarkinu sem við settum okkur (4.000 €) og heildarupphæðin er nú 5.660 evrur. Við erum afar þakklát fyrir hlýjar kveðjur og stuðning.
Heildarkostnaður verkefnisins er 6.800 evrur og við leitum nú til ykkar í síðasta sinn.
Hjálpið okkur að deila þessu svo við komumst nær lokamarkmiðinu. Hægt er að veita beinan stuðning, eignast mynd eftir Baniprosonno eða tryggja sjálfum sér – eða einhverjum sem þið trúið á – dvöl í Gullkistunni. NEWS!
We were faced with an unexpected dilemma and needed to update the internet service at Gullkistan to High-Speed. This costs around 7800 US$ or 6800 € and will improve the quality of life and work for the artists who stay with us.

For this we started a crowdfunding project at the Karolina fund, offering artworks by Baniprosonno, Gullkistan children books, access to Gullkistan and direct donations.
We became very optimistic and started getting it done and because all involved made an effort to do the job, dig the long ditch in the frosty ground and laying the line and then putting up the gear. TODAY the job was done and the internet is working - just in time for the January artists to enjoy.

The 4000 € we hoped for with much optimism has now been reached and we are overwhelmed with gratitude. But there is still a month to go and we would be super happy to get closer to the real cost and if the pledges are higher, the extra money will be used for other maintenance to make Gullkistan an even better place for artists. So, please help us spread the word!

FRÉTTIR
Við stóðum frammi fyrir óvæntri áskorun þar sem við þurfum að fá ljósleiðara í Gullkistuna og mun það kosta um 1,1 milljón króna. Þetta verkefni mun bæta lífsgæði og vinnuaðstæður listamannanna sem dvelja hjá okkur.

Þess vegna settum af stað hópfjármögnun hjá Karolinafund þar sem við bjóðum listaverk eftir Baniprosonno, barnabækur Gullkistunnar, aðgang að Gullkistunni og val um bein framlög.

Af mikilli bjartsýni settum við kraft í framkvæmdina og samhent lið tók til starfa. Skurður var grafinn upp brekkuna í frosna jörð, leiðslan lögð inn í húsið og græjurnar tengdar. í DAG var komið ljósleiðarasamband í Gullkistuna og listamenn janúar mánaðar njóta strax góðs af.

Takmarkið sem við settum í söfnuninni er 600 þúsund kr og því hefur nú á undraskömmum tíma verið náð, en nú er mánuður eftir í söfnuninni og því enn hægt að leggja okkur lið til að komast nær raunverulegum kostnaði. Ef framlögin verða hærri verður það fé notað til annarra viðhaldsverkefna til að gera Gullkistuna að enn betri stað fyrir listafólk.
