A few moments from our two recent yoga retreats at Arctic Canvas.

Over the past weeks, we hosted some amazing ladies from London for a mix of yoga, good food, nature, movement, and slowing down for a few days.

Beautiful yoga sessions by and incredible food by

Between yoga sessions and dinners with delicious natural wine from , there were coastal walks, whale watching with Láki Tours , wild swimming, visits to Lýsulaugar , pancakes & souvenirs at Samkomuhúsið á Arnarstapa / Samkomuhúsið restaurant in Arnarstapi , and a bit of dancing.

We spotted seals, Arctic foxes, whales and even had an eagle fly overhead us while swimming!

Thanks to everyone who joined us.

We’re excited to see former Arctic Canvas resident Phil Garcia opening his exhibition Melrakki at the Snæfellsjökulsþjóðgarður - National Park Centre next week.

During his residency, Phil spent time exploring the landscape of Snæfellsnes and the Arctic foxes that call it home, while also developing new artistic directions.

One of the most rewarding parts of hosting artists is seeing them connect with the people and places that make this region so special. Watching those connections evolve into exhibitions like this is always exciting.

Congratulations to Phil and the Snæfellsjökull National Park Centre. We can’t wait to see the exhibition!

Pauline May is a multidisciplinary artist working across performance, dance, video, and visual art — creating immersive works where body and environment merge.
Originally from France, her practice moves fluidly between movement and image, often grounded in transformation and presence.

During her residency with us, we were especially drawn to the way she combined performance with large-scale painting.
She worked directly onto the studio windows, using the surrounding landscape as both subject and collaborator. The result felt like a living installation — where inside and outside dissolved into one.

A deeply inspiring presence in the space.
We hope to welcome her back soon!

Birgit, one of the Arctic Canvas duo,
is a cinematographer, and when she hasn’t been filming she’s been building here as much as she could.

She first came to the land before there was a house, to find the right position for the light and the view.
That’s what camera-lens eyes do.

She’s spent years working across different places and projects, from filming scenes for James Bond in the Alps, to films nominated at the Berlinale, to receiving an honorary prize for her lifelong work in cinematography.
I still remember her casually mentioning she’d been hanging out of a helicopter to get a shot, while I was just going about a normal school day. There’s always a bit of action around her.

More recently, she shot a TV series for ZDF for a few months, which will be released this winter — and I can’t wait to watch it.

And last year, she had her first solo photography exhibition at the Centre.

The movie “Ljósvíkingar / Odd Fish” came out last year and became the most watched Icelandic film of the year.
Her next film, “Fuglar og menn”, will be released in Iceland this autumn — a story about eider ducks and the long, close relationship between people and these birds.

She’s always making something, and that’s beautiful to watch.
