August 14, 1947 - Partition Horrors Remember Day
Today we remember one of the darkest chapters Bhārat's (India's) history when the British hastily drew arbitrary borders within Bhārat creating the Islamic Republics of East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) and West Pakistan. Both countries that have become known for their state sponsored religious persecution of minorities and global terror.
The Partition didn't just divide land, it tore apart communities, families and lives.
The human cost was staggering: an estimated 1-2 million lives lost in communal violence, mainly Hindu, and 14 million people forced to abandon their homes, becoming refugees overnight.
Entire trainloads of families never reached their destinations.
Children were separated from their parents. Neighbors turned against neighbors.
Hindus were driven away from their ancestral lands
Behind every statistic was a human story of loss, trauma, and unimaginable suffering that echoed through generations.
As we reflect on this tragedy, we honour the memory of those who perished and acknowledge the resilience of survivors who rebuilt their lives from nothing.
