2023- another year of Contemplation & Complements

As this year 2023 completes its journey tonight leaving us wondering how fast January to December passed on with sweet memories of Travels, Festivals, Retreat programs, Spiritual Evolution, Yatras, Creative works and assignments, Rotary Projects, Tree plantations, Medical camps. Especially , the unprecedented monsoon rains followed by floods in the first week of December necessitated us in organizing food and other relief materials for the flood affected people in Greater Chennai and its suburban areas.

My gratitude and PraNams to my Guru Paramparas, for the nonstop flow of blessings that kept me always on the move even during the tough times.

I heartily thank my Rotary Club of ERA family, my Co Presidents, DG. Ravi Raman and all Rotarians of District 3232 for their concern and emotional support showered on us during the medical emergency that my husband went through. By God’s grace all is well now.

My sincere thanks to all the Sponsors - Satsangis, Rotarians, my children, my cousins, my husband and his colleagues who contributed towards supply of food and other relief materials. My heartfelt thanks to the people of Arul Jyothi Anna Alayam who cooked and supplied us food for 600 persons every day for 2 weeks and also to the Staff and volunteers of Exnora International who helped to deliver the food wading through knee deep waters to the affected people.

My thanks to our Rotary Disaster Management team for all the coordination, ensuring smooth supply to the affected areas and population, Rescuing the passengers from the stranded trains from Tiruchendur......hat was indeed a herculean task.

Special thanks to my client, CMD, The KCP Ltd. Dr. V.L. Indira Dutt and MD. Smt. Kavitha Dutt
for sponsoring 500 mats and 1000 bed sheets for the Irular communities in Tiruvallur District
and Vidiyal NGO for accompanying the KCP lorry to all the tiny hamlets around Tiruttani.

Our Prakruti – Mother earth is a wonderful place to live and evolve, sustaining herself with so many kind hearts all around. Let us sow the seeds of love and responsibility as we move ahead into 2024.

MARGAZHI- the month for Spiritual Sadhana

Hari Om
Margazhi is the time between the mid of December and January.
Scientifically speaking this time of the year the Earth is far away from the Sun and the Ozone layer is very close above the earth.
Yogis do intense PraNayama in the early morning to increase their PraNa Sakthi and its also said that any mantra japa and meditation done during this time strengthens the physical body and our Astral body as well.
Lord Krishna in the Bhagavat Gita says among the months he is Margashirsa (Margazhi).

AaNdaal, another avathar of Mahalakshmi, gathering her friends early in the morning, goes to the temple tank to have bath while singing the Hymns, (Praise of Lord Krishna). This is called “Thiruppavai” in Tamizh and signifies the devotion ( bhakti rasa).

Vaishnavites, in many parts of south India practice “Nagara Samkeerthana” – Singing hymns on the streets in the early hours till date with musical Instruments- a treat for the Soul.

Fasting on “Vaikunta Ekadesi” eleventh day after New Moon day is considered very sacred and the special entrance in all Vishnu temples ( Paramapada vasal ) opens only on that day for devotees to enter. This year it falls on 23rd December.

Shaivites- Shiva bhaktas do Thapasya and chant Thiruvasagam, Thirumurai, Sri Rudram from Karthigai masa – November till Arudra Darisanam which falls on 27th December this year. That’s the day when Lord Nataraja gave Natya darshan to Siddhars Tirumoolar and Vyakrapada in Chidambaram.
All the above practices are to discipline the physical body and immerse our Soul in the Spiritual Aura of the season.
May our Sadhana progress with the blessings of all our Guru Paramparas.
Shri Gurubhyo Namaha.
