A unique opportunity to travel, explore new culture and learn art. Witte’s Studio is located in Pondicherry, South India offering Painting / Drawing / Sculpture courses that are open for those with some background in the study of painting.
Types of courses offered are; Foundation level course, Advanced level course and University level course.
Typically the foundation level course will cover the discipline of visual scientific research with broad reference of artists, scientists and philosophers while the advanced classes will be in the form of forum, formal discussion, presentation and experimental research. I begin, then, with the first point, and warn my readers to make an accurate distinction between an idea, or conception of the mind, and the images of things which we imagine. The fine arts in all disciplines combine the essence of the humanities; the essence of liberation.
Is freedom not 'a given'? One may ask or - and, liberation from what? Well; in this case it is the liberation from all that is contrary to the well being of human existence: "The liberation from the opposite" oppression in any form.
The fine artists need nothing more than an unbias progressive approach towards learning and research devoid of any interest in fame or wealth. This condition is quite the opposite of exploitation of anyone or 'anything'.
What is the antithesis of the artist then? It is the need and acquisition of gold, power, control through any means which can only be acquired by deception, lies and covert practises usually requiring violent methods to combat resistance. This approach by definition cannot be achieved through any humanitarian quality. It must be 'invented'.
The people at large fail to grasp that what is being offered to them at a price and through deception is rightfully their own that which belongs equally to all born on this planet.

The visual science; painting and sculpture; are no different from any other science - philosophy - or mathematics in that, without the concerned and revolutionary contribution of previous workers, the current position in all research could not exist.
It is therefore necessary and respectful to have adequate knowledge regarding the relevence and importance of who, when, and why these contributers were / are: as they are.
Self expression is nothing more than infantile.

From an idealogical point it would appear that there can be no freedom if there are no 'needs' or 'requirements' i.e. if 'all' is 'free' there are no requirements; if 'all' becomes need - there can be no freedom. Hence the well known phrase 'freedom is the recognition of necessity'.
In my opinion the visual arts most certainly follow along these principles.

Art is the activity of pre revolution, the non acceptance of 'face value' - of what 'appears to be true'. It is the process by which what appears apparent - by definition must be confirmed by visual and scientific investigation. Rarely what is perceived is the result of what is observed. Truth is never 'presented or given'. Truth exists only in so far as lies prove it to be.
