Dear Sir Umkong and Sir Enoi,
On that fateful day, both of you fell, leaving behind hearts burdened with profound grief, anguish, and righteous anger. Though you were taken by the hands of our adversaries, you departed this world as true warriors, like wild and untamed tigers, fearless and unyielding until your very last breath.
You did not perish in a foreign land; you laid down your lives upon the very soil we have long called our sacred ancestral homeland, the cherished Naga land for which generations before you have bled and sacrificed. “Apuni duijon amar Naga mati nachari kena yate kara kurishe, Naga mati Naga nimite koikena.” You remained with our Naga soil until the very end, giving your all for the Naga nation and its people.
Your sacrifice calls back the painful memories of our forefathers, who too met the same fate while defending this sacred homeland. The earth beneath our feet and the paths we walk today have absorbed the blood, tears, and sacrifices of countless Nagas who gave everything for this cause. Your names now join that immortal legacy.
Yet, even in sorrow, your sacrifice has kindled a new flame , a one of courage, resolve, and inspiration in the hearts of your fellow comrades. Your martyrdom will continue to strengthen our determination to carry forward the cause for which you gave your lives.
As you embark on your final journey into eternity, we offer our deepest revolutionary salute and farewell. May your souls find peace in knowing that your sacrifices will never be forgotten, nor shall they ever be in vain.
Your memories shall forever remain like a speck of dust in our eyes, ever present, impossible to ignore, and always reminding us of the price paid for our land and our people.
Rest in peace, Sir Umkong and Sir Enoi.
Farewell to thee.
