Yuva Music Festival
A significant time period shall echo and re-echo for years to come with a sensational launch of the Yuva Music Festival (YMF) on June 17, 2014 at Satyajit Ray Auditorium, ICCR from 6:00 pm onwards. The host of the festival, Academy for Musical Excellence (AMEC), will be partnering with Alliance Francaise du Bengale and Uncommon for reaching out to all music lovers. This diversified music movement basically aims at the revival of the Western Music culture in Kolkata – which is now far gone and lost; and inclusion of music in achieving the objective of All-round Social Development, with the contribution of today’s and tomorrow’s Youth. With the participation diameter being from 6 to 35 years, YMF seeks to identify, nurture and promote new talents irrespective of their financial capabilities by providing them many avenues and opportunities in the field of music like Live-stage performing – in groups as well as solos and appealing to the audience by their stage presence. When it comes to music, how can anyone forget the unprivileged ones especially, when they have a very raw, and yet with a folk-touch, nature of self-taught music? In order to elevate their standards and reach in the process of learning music, AMEC has taken a leap of generosity by imparting them the structured-music tuitions, books and music instruments free of cost. Empowering them more, special slots have been dedicated for their performances throughout the Yuva Music Festival 2014. Their training sessions are carried out at Rainbow School (Loreto Day School, Dharamtala). Taking off on June 17, 2014, YMF will be communicated to the public in three different ways – Competitions, Concerts and Talk Shows; till its closing ceremony on August 5, 2014. Any person in the age category of 6-35 years can compete in various categories of Piano, Guitar, Keyboard, Vocal or Band competitions. Among the AMEC band, ensembles and solo performances, there would be various schools, colleges, other institutes & amateurs participating from all-round the Kolkata. The Talk Shows would be the interactive ones, involving the audience into the Panel Discussions or Debates, centered on Youth and Music – managing emotions through music, careers in the music industry and the role of music in the making of a person. Acknowledging the Great Visionary Mr. Surendranath Majumdar, who is the Founder of AMEC and the Mastermind behind the Yuva Music Festival, his efforts are unconditional towards the securement of a bigger dream of Music for All – of which this Festival is a stepping stone. Majumdar himself is a musician (Pianist) at heart, a child lover and a youth promoter. The platform of the YMF is unique in itself, for it is the first of its kinds in Kolkata that would generate and promote maximum young talents and also give recognition to them among the high profiles of Kolkata. Making it a non-commercial festival, YMF is different from the mainstream festivals as it encourages all kinds of people, from different walks of life, not bothering about their financial status, to be a part of the Path-Breaking Music Festival. With an aim of reaching out to each and every resident of Kolkata and then the country, come, let’s spread the joy of music and Transform Lives!
