Vande Mataram" (IAST: Vande Mātaram) (transl. Mother, I bow to thee) is a heavily sanskiritised Bengali poem written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1870s, which he included in his 1882 Bengali novel Anandamath. The poem was first sung by Rabindranath Tagore in 1896. The first two verses of the song were adopted as the National Song of India in October 1937 by the Congress Working Committee prior to the end of colonial rule in August 1947.

Movie: Naan Sigappu Manithan (1985), Penmane Sangeetham Paadiva, Lyricist: Mu. M***a, Music: Ilayaraja, Raga: Dhīraśankarābharaṇaṃ, commonly known as Śankarābharaṇaṃ, is a rāga in Carnatic music. It is the 29th Melakarta rāga in the 72 Melakarta rāga system of Carnatic music. Since this raga has many Gamakās (ornamentations), it is glorified as "Sarva Gamaka Maaṇika Rakti Rāgaṃ" in Telugu. By scale wise, the Śankarābharaṇaṃ scale corresponds to Bilaval in the Hindustani music system. The Western equivalent is the major scale, or the Ionian mode.[1][2] Hence this rāga is one of the most popular scales across the world, known with different names in different musical styles. Its nature is mellifluous and smooth. This rāga offers a large scope for compositions. It is ideal for a melodious, but still laid back majestic presentation.

Movie: Mann Vaasanai (1983), Song: Pothi Vecha Malliga Mottu, Lyricist: Vairamuthu, Music: Ilayaraja, Raga: The song is based on Pushpalathika [in A scale] of Karaharapriya. The BGM 1 and 2 have touches of Keeravani. In Charanam 1 and 2, Maestro introduces janya Swaravardhini [in E] of melakartha Raagavardhini. In Charanams, he touches Ni3 and immediately changes to Ni2 and finishes with Pa, which creates the Swaravardhini effect. Cool!
