I have loved music as long as I could remember. I have learned to play Chenda from the Kalamandalam Raman Namboothiri and Kalamandalam Krishna Das and that was a kind of the basic foundation on which I have been training myself to learn more about the Music. ened when I was associated with our school band, which was led by Balabhaskar the violin maestro. Then I played the Drums for the band and the we have won several prizes including the Sate Level Winner for the Instrumental Music. All these days, for some reason I was interested in small electrical gadgets and was fixing - some times breaking ;) - things in my home and friends circle. I was also associated with our community arts club and used to support them in getting things set. This included some small recording of songs, dialogues or sound effects for supporting the Malayalam Plays etc. I used the small tape/cassette players to record or overdub things using small wireless (FM range) microphones. And fast forwarding a few-years, Kiran - passionate photographer, a good friend of mine who always had noticed my audio skills wanted me to work with him and then was time when "ASTUDIO" was born ! I decided to learn more about this process of recording, mixing and audio-post and let me tell you to follow your passion and hobbies by keeping a busy day-job as a Software Engineer is not that easy ! Before I jump in to something, I did spend a whole year in reading articles, watching and listening to tutorial and interviews and what not...
I consumed almost every bits and pieces available online primarily from Dave Pensado, Graham Cochrane, Joe Gilder and Sreejesh who are experts in what they do and I really thanks their humbleness and sharing the gyan. Ever since I have had my little space "ASTUDIO" in 2013, I used to recording small vocals and guitars pieces and I continued to learn new tricks and tips while doing it. The best thing to learn something new do is to get hands dirty ! Since then, I have been involved in Recording, Mixing for a small bands (2 to 3 member) and help them make demo tracks. Also, I have been associated with a couple of Indie film makers and doing audio pre/post-production for them. I always have a minimalist approach who believes in less is more ! "ASTUDIO" has a recording space is big enough to record Vocals and a couple of instruments with decent quality. And the Mix room does not have that fancy lava lamps but big enough to produce good, if not great, results. For anything more on how I could help you on your next production, please contact us.
