Being an artist you can see everything through and realistically, I am so proud she has taken the TANDEL FUND OF ARCHIVES to the next stage.

By archiving prevailing social and cultural customs and mores of Mumbai’s earliest inhabitants, the Koli fisherfolk, you remind us of their ancient oral narratives and how they were impacted by colonial history, while somehow managing to retain their heritage, skills and relationship with the ocean.
your pop-up museum celebrates and preserves the cultural heritage of the Kolis. The original ‘Tandel Fund’ was founded in the 14’ Century as a financial support system for Koli elders during their seafaring expeditions. Today, it documents the oceanic knowledge and biophilic practices of the Kolis, focusing on the environmental wisdom of the Son Kolis, who view the ocean as a forest within a forest. Fanning through over 200 Koli villages, you are archiving your ancestors rich heritage by creating a platform to showcase their art forms and creating a living memory museum. Thank you for reminding us that we will never know how to negotiate tomorrow unless we remember where we came from.

Taad orTodi or Tadi (palm tree) tree was an integral part of Kolis of Mumbai, it was used in some of the recipes, but in recent decades it has declined in numbers of trees. It's plantation is necessary we feel.
