3,000 people boarded the Caribbean Princess for an 11-day dream vacation in the Caribbean.

By the time the ship reached the Dominican Republic — 120 of them were sick. The culprit? Norovirus — one of the most contagious viruses on the planet. Vomiting. Diarrhea. No way off the ship. Nowhere to go.

The CDC confirmed the outbreak happened during the ship's April 28 to May 11 voyage. 102 passengers and 13 crew members were affected in total. Princess Cruises responded quickly — disinfecting every area of the ship and isolating sick passengers and crew. The ship will undergo a full deep clean upon arriving at Port Canaveral on May 11.
