Design education in India as we know it today stands tall on the visionary contributions of the first generation of Design Gurus- the pioneers who laid the foundation.

Since 2017, 9th November has been celebrated as National Design Guru Day by WUD—a day to honor these luminaries who made design education in India what it is today. This initiative coincides with the birth anniversary of Prof. MP Ranjan, a celebrated design thinker and educator at NID.

At the World University of Design (WUD), we have been privileged to carry this legacy forward by recognizing the profound contributions of these trailblazers. Since the inception of this award, we have had the honor of celebrating design gurus like Prof. AGK Menon, Prof. Iftikhar-mulk Chishti Studioif , Sh. Rajeev Sethi, Prof. Jatin Bhatt , Prof. Archana Shastri and Ms. Laila Tyabji

This year, we are proud to announce Professor Lalit Kumar Das as the 2024 recipient of the “Design Guru” Award. Prof. Das has been a driving force behind Industrial Design education at IIT Delhi; has done extensive work across sectors; is committed to inclusive design, and has a passion for sustainability.

The structure of design education in India as we know it today stands tall on the visionary contributions of the first generation of Design Gurus. These pioneers laid the foundation, shaping not just the curriculum but the mindset that has empowered generations of designers to think, create, and innovate.

Since 2017, 9th November has been celebrated as National Design Guru Day by WUD—a day to honor these luminaries who made design education in India what it is today. This initiative coincides with the birth anniversary of Prof. MP Ranjan, a celebrated design thinker and educator at NID, who belonged to this generation and whose belief in design’s ability to drive meaningful change continues to inspire us all.

Honored and humbled! World University of Design (WUD) has been recognized as "The Emerging University of the Year" by AIU-SEPC at their recent event "Transforming Higher Education & Skilling towards Viksh*t Bharat @ 2047" on September 28, 2024. In Loving Memory of Dr. Hukam Chand Bansal

With profound grief, we announce the passing of Dr. Hukam Chand Bansal, a visionary leader, an exemplary educationist who served as Founder Chancellor of the World University of Design at Sonipat and the RIMT University at Mandi-Gobindgarh.

Dr. Bansal transformed the educational landscape of India, creating opportunities for thousands of students to pursue excellence in diverse fields. His dedication to nurturing young minds and commitment to societal upliftment left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. A man of humility and generosity, Dr. Bansal touched countless lives through his work, philanthropy, and unwavering belief in the power of education to transform communities. His legacy will live on in the institutions he built and the many lives he inspired.

To honor his memory and pray for the peace of his departed soul, a prayer meeting will be held on 2nd October 2024, 2 pm at the RIMT University Campus

It was a pleasure having Monika Khanna Gulati delivering the inaugural address at the VIII Global Goals Jam 2024 at World University of Design today.

Monika herself being a design entrepreneur and a design educator, a zero-waste evangelist, was the most appropriate expert to flag off this year's theme of reconnect and repair.

The finalized ideas will be presented tomorrow afternoon. It promises to be a fruitful event. Do come if you can spare some time.

WUD is a true melting pot of cultures, and celebrations like these remind us of the rich diversity that makes our community so special. By embracing festivals from various traditions, we're not just paying respect to different cultures – we're preparing our students to be true global citizens.

The logo designed by a was everywhere at the closing ceremony of 75 years of Indo-Finnish diplomatic relations celebration. The celebration was marked by another intervention, this time by our students of performing arts, who put together an Indo-Finnish composition specially for the occasion.
