UPI TRANSECTION FEES?
Government ne recently ek amendment pass kiya hai jo future mein selected UPI transactions par MDR (Merchant Discount Rate) lagane ka legal way open karta hai.
Abhi jo proposal/report saamne aa raha hai, uske according ₹2,000 se upar ke merchant/business UPI payments par around 0.25%–0.4% MDR lag sakta hai. Lekin important point ye hai ki ₹2,000 cross karte hi abhi se koi charge nahi lag raha hai. Final rate aur exact implementation abhi government decide karegi. (The Times of India)
Aur ye charge customer ke account se directly cut hone wala charge nahi hai. MDR mainly merchant/business side ka processing charge hoga. Normal person-to-person UPI transfer, jaise kisi friend ya family member ko ₹5,000 bhejna, is proposal ka main target nahi hai. (Indian Express)
So, “₹2,000 ke upar UPI karte hi customer ka paisa katega” = misleading.
