Vangodd De Saligao is an event that envisions the celebrating of unity of our community in a community spirit. Our mission is to see the whole of Saligao as one united community.
On 24th June, 2018 from11am to 3pm, Saligao will be celebrating the “Monsoon”-The gift of water and the gift of life. As one community we will be thanking God for blessing us with sufficient rain that will yield a rich harvest.
Though we are celebrating the feast of St .John the Baptist, on this day, we will be celebrating this festival with a difference- in a manner that is more eco-friendly, respecting life, nature and environment.
The villagers of Saligao are going to display their unity through a cultural programme comprising of goan folk dances and songs. They will be showcasing their talents of cooking, traditional sweet making, pickles, jams etc.
Our village is threatened by the garbage problem. Through this event we would like to do our bit and create environmental awareness through tree planting, saving water and spread the message of how to keep our environment clean and how to live a healthy life.
We are all familiar with the saying “A healthy mind in a healthy body”. We are also well aware that our young children are our future. Our youth need to develop their physique and their intellect for their secure future, for which our village does not have the right infrastructure like a playground. Hence our youth will create this awareness through a football match in the water logged area in front of the church.
Let VANGODD –the unity of Saligao remain forever.
