In the year 1913, under Rajen Dutta’s insist and Kesto Banerjee,Bibhutibhusan Das,Khoka Mondal and others possible effort in Lal Mohan Mitra’s ground stated Sikdar Bagan’s Durgapuja. In the late year 1933 due to shortage of space,Durgapuja was held in front of Sanyal’s house.During 50’s era this puja took place in front of 55,Sikdar Bagan Street in the road.Due to shortage of space in 1996 this pu
ja was shifted and again took place in front of 78,Sikdar Bagan Street . From 50’s till today those people who are wholly connected among them all, Mr Balai Sanyal,Madan Bose,Sambhunath Bagchi,Sunil pal,are important names to be mentioned. In today what we call modern Durgapuja(basically theme items),Sikdarbagan’s Durgapuja is little bit diffetrentfrom it.the basic glory of this puja is that we maintain all the old traditional and mythological theories culture and old tradition and homely atmosphere.Few days back on the ‘Bhasan’ of durgapuja we use to bring back the structure and on this basis onwards new idols was set up,but at present according to the rules made by the authorities we are unable to bring back the structure but other old traditional rules are maintained.The maker of durgapratima is made by the descendents of chandannagor idol maker and the idol is made in own locality itself, for over 33 years the decoration of idol is made by the same person-the decorator of Krishnanagr.Similarly for 30 years this puja is performed by “Mihir Barman Bhttacharya” In this priesthood ship on day of “saptami” “Nabapatrika”and “ghot” inauguration took place and durgapuja started and “kumaripuja” take place on “Asthami”.The occasion of “Sandhipuja” was organized and conducted by local women.On the day of “Nabami” “alms” or “Prasad”is distributed,atlast at the evening of “Dashami” “Sindurkhela”was took placed and mother is welcomed again. After that the people of locality participated on the ceremony of “Bisharjan”. Sikdarbagan’s Sadharan Durgotsav is always a homely atmosphere puja. The actual puja took place on the ground before it came to the road and numerous programmed were organized by Jiban Chakrobotry and Bansi Sinha .In the locality there were two unprofessional theater group who performed theater. Sikdarbagan “Bandhabsamaj” organized “Nodia Binod” play where one of the greatest actor ever Chobi Biswas acted as “Nimai”(1932-1936) and sikdarbagan’s musical and song association in “Thakur Sri Sri Ramakrishna”play in the role of Ramakrishna Sibnath Sanyal Acted. Today Sikdarbagan Sadharan Durgotsav is on the way of 100 years ,but from the beginning the people of the locality who were involved in this puja there contribution is too much valuable.like Hiralal Sen(father of modern talkies flim),Dr D Basu(Former director of cultivation of science),Mr Binod Bihari Basu(controller of Hindustan Standars from Delhi),B.K.Bhar(First writer of book on Cost Accountancy),Sri Bholanath Bagchi(famous tabla player.Ustad Bade Gulam Ali Kahn and famous tabla player B.G.Jog visit him regularly. 6) Sri Tarun Roychoedhury-in 60’s he was the secretary of National Congress in North Kolkata.
7) Sri Sukumar Priyobhar-represent India in Contact Bridge.
8) Sri Samar Mitra-represent India in waterpolo.
9) Sri Sunil Pal-famous painter.
10) Sri Soumitar pal-bengal champion in carom
