A family affair with a twist at Lodhi Garden!
A nesting pair of Indian Grey Hornbills successfully raised their chicks this season, but the story came with an unexpected supporting character—a wandering Oriental Pied Hornbill male who apparently never got the memo that he wasn’t related.
While the Grey Hornbill mother remained sealed inside her nest cavity, this feathered foster father diligently joined the food delivery service, regularly bringing meals for the growing chicks. Yesterday morning, the female finally broke free from her confinement, marking the successful end of the nesting cycle.
Proof that in the bird world, it sometimes takes a village… or at least a very confused hornbill.
