Celso García's debut feature film ‘The Thin Yellow Line (2015)’ opened the 14th PIFF. It is about the journey of five men who are hired to paint the median line of a road that connects two villages in Mexico. On board of an old truck, they do the job: more than 200 kilometers that they have to complete in less than fifteen days under a burning sun. Five solitary men that will acknowledge that there is a thin line between right and wrong; between laughter and crying; between life and death.

One of the most memorable takeaways from Javed Akhtar Sahab was his insight that great writing isn't driven by inspiration alone. It is a beautiful interplay of the conscious and the subconscious, where creativity finds its true expression between the heart and the mind.

13th PIFF Opening Film Timbuktu is a film directed and co-written by Abderrahmane Sissako. It competed for the Palme d'Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, winning the Ecumenical Jury Prize and François Chalais Prize; nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards.

For Kidane, who lives a peaceful existence with his family outside the city, everything changes when he accidentally kills a local fisherman. The family’s life changes abruptly after this accident.

Sant Dnyaneshwar said, "He Vishwachi Maze Ghar" : "The whole world is my home." Sadly, despite the immense respect we hold for his teachings, we often fail to reflect that spirit in our thoughts, words, and actions.

That is why the words of the eminent filmmaker Raj Dutt resonate so deeply today. He rightly said that cinema is perhaps the only medium where there is truly no discrimination. People from different castes, religions, languages, regions, and ideologies come together to create a story, and audiences embrace it without asking where its creators come from.

Cinema doesn't ask who you are before it moves you. It doesn't divide, it connects.

For him, films remain one of the truest expressions of Vishwabandhutva (universal brotherhood), a place where humanity comes together to create, to experience, and to celebrate as one.

Perhaps this is where Sant Dnyaneshwar's vision of "He Vishwachi Maze Ghar" finds its most genuine expression.
