Awarding the A2.2 an overall score of 5.7/6, Alfredo Mascia of HiFi-IFAs highlights the loudspeaker's remarkable ability to deliver a spacious, immersive and deeply engaging musical performance from an elegantly compact floorstanding design.
Among his key observations was that "what unfolds sonically is simply bigger than the speaker that produces it," highlighting the A2.2's ability to create a soundstage that far exceeds expectations for its size.
Mascia was equally impressed by the loudspeaker's disappearing act, noting that "the Spendor A2.2 does something that is anything but commonplace for speakers of its class: it disappears." He continues, "You no longer really hear where the sound is coming from. You simply hear."
Reflecting on its scale and musical authority, Mascia observed that "the Spendor A2.2 doesn't know how small it is. It doesn't seem to care either; it simply plays with an almost unperturbed sense of scale, sounding much bigger than it actually is."
His conclusion captures the essence of the A2.2 perfectly: "The Spendor A2.2 is a loudspeaker that quietly makes its presence felt – and can bring joy. What more could one possibly need?"
