We are deeply saddened by the demise of Ajit Rai, a towering figure in Indian cultural journalism, cinema and theatre criticism. With over 35 years of contribution, his legacy is marked by thousands of writings that shaped the discourse of Indian art, cinema, and literature.

His work transcended boundaries—from representing India at Cannes to bringing Indian cinema to Moscow, Oslo, Berlin, Tehran and beyond. A recipient of numerous awards, he was a true cultural ambassador of India.

We were honoured to have hosted him at several of our events, where his insights and presence inspired all.

Today, we bow our heads in remembrance of one of India’s most visionary theatre legends — Ratan Thiyam. A true torchbearer of modern Indian theatre, his work transcended boundaries, blending tradition with innovation, silence with spectacle, and spirituality with resistance.

His legacy lives on through every stage, every script, and every soul touched by the power of his art.

Thank you, for showing us how theatre can become a mirror, a prayer, and a revolution.
