Screening: Miles Away, following three caste-oppressed women at a North Indian brick kiln, whose invisible labour speaks to debt and displacement in urbanising India.

The ALT EFF Film Fund is here to help.

With the support of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, we have built a corpus of ₹1.2 crore for 2026 to support Indian environmental documentary filmmakers.

Applications are open to filmmakers working in the documentary format (feature-length or short) who are currently in the development or production phase, through our partners Greenstories and DocedgeKolkata.

📅 DocedgeKolkata applications open from 1 November to 10 December 2026

The biggest environmental film fund in India is back for its second year. 🌿🎬

The ALT EFF Film Fund, enabled by Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, will support three Indian environmental film projects exploring the theme of coexistence.

At a time when the relationship between humans, animals, landscapes, and ecosystems feels more fragile than ever, we’re looking for stories that imagine new ways of living together.

This year, we’re proud to be doing this with the support of our partners at Greenstories and DocedgeKolkata.

At ALT EFF, we want to be a platform for environmental storytelling across mediums, not just cinema. Voices is part of that effort.
