Attending a three-day International Printmaking Symposium (3rd - 5th November 2023) organized by (IPEP) India was a rewarding experience. It provided a deep investigation into the area of printmaking, as aptly named "For the Love of Printmaking," it highlighted the importance of image-making, creativity and inventiveness in the medium that goes beyond the traditional techniques.

IPEP India has spent the past decade building a global community of printmakers through their Print Exchange Programs and, more recently, the Printmaking Symposium, which has allowed for greater engagement concerning the art of printmaking.

For me, a special highlight of this symposium was when artist Venugopal VG mentioned in his presentation about the activities held by Studio Tints and Prints in Bangalore, which made me feel as if I had contributed my tiny bit to the cause of printmaking, and such platforms keep the enthusiasm alive.

Finally, I am pleased to be a part of the IPEP community, and I thank Rajesh Pullarwar for his efforts to promote printmaking and availing a valuable learning experience through this kind of initiatives.

We welcomed Divya Kakani during the month of July- August 2022 over a 30-day residency program - 'Home X Studio Residency 03' followed by an open studio week of Divya's series of works 'Connected Consciousness' created during the residency program.
--
Divya Kakani is pursuing her BFA from ICG deemed University in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Majorly exploring the relief and intaglio techniques of printmaking, Divya also experiments with cyanotype using natural flowers and leaves along with linear drawing in her compositions.
Imageries in her works revolve around nature depicting a moment of oneness, longing, isolation, and intuitive dialogue with her natural habitats. Divya finds a sense of intimate connection and deeper self-reflection as she learns and observes nature. Through the lyrical and rhythmic compositions, Divya tries to render and explore the idea of anatomical similitude between nature and humans.

Divya’s latest series of works are rather her emotive expressions explicitly delineating the magnificent and eternal characteristics of nature through pictorial arrangements of lines, shapes, and forms. In her works, she efforts at maintaining an affinity with nature and learning from it.

It feels so good to share the glimpses of very first such residency program where we welcomed Ridip Das to stay over at our studio space and create series of works. The residency was concluded with display of works , titled as - '' expedition II ". We received an overwhelming response from artists, designers and architects as they visited our studio and viewed Ridip's works, also interacted with him. Students from CMR School of Architecture as well as Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath also visited the display.
This was indeed a fortunate experience for Ridip as well as for us.

**Emotional post alert**

For every artist ' Studio' is not just a workspace it's their emotion, their identity! I feel surreal and content every morning l wake up to this scene in my studio !
It is so peaceful and relieving!
"You can't gain anything without consistent efforts, and l mean it when l say it !"
Facing constant trials and errors , having financial limitations, going through so many emotional ups and downs - finally we have built a space that we have completely dedicated to Art and Print-Making! It's our Home , it's our Studio !
It's a small yet very important establishment in my life as an artist, that gave me a sense of belief in myself! I know there is going to be alot more to come! But , I want to thank all the obstacles for appearing in my way - the experiences made me understand that l can overcome almost everything with my ambition to achieve my dream!
I have a studio today , each and every object in this place has a memory and emotion , and nothing else matters! That's something l am proud of!! I am happy!!!
And this goes without saying, Cheers to my partner Attri Chetan - for sharing my dream and being there through all of it! 😌🌼
