This style of painting is called Bharni (meaning 'filled'). It is made directly on the wall, just like traditional Mithila art was painted on mud walls of the houses! ❤️

At Madhuroop, we craft the future by celebrating the past. Discover the beautiful world of Mithila art. This incredibly detailed and eye-catching painting is a form of Madhubani art known as Kohbar. Kohbar literally means “the bride’s room” and originated 2500 years ago in Janakpur, where it is still practiced. This exquisite piece is made on silk fabric with the traditional bridal color of red. It was made thirty years ago and yet has not lost any of its radiance.
