Samir's association with Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry is like a call they say.
Neeta, Samir's IIT-Kharagpur classmate first visited Pondicherry in 1969 as Architect for works in the Auroville project of global living as conceived by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
Samir and Neeta wed in 1970.
Neeta, perhaps because of the influence of Sri Aurobindo & the Mother's teachings and philosophy continued her association with Pondicherry and kept visiting Pondicherry ever so often.
Though Neeta first visited Pondicherry in 1969 Samir's first visit here was in 1996, with the sole intention of knowing and developing friendship with Neeta's acquaintances there so that, if ever need arose to look after her while in on any of her Pondicherry visits, Samir knew who to contact.
From the intent then in 1996, there has been a sea-change and transformation in Samir's thinking, in as much as his intent of now deciding to settle down lock-stock-and-barrel in Pondicherry.
On one of his frequent visits, Samir made the view as seen outside the Sri Aurobindo Ashram on the Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo on 15 August 2010, with a colourful canvas shade for the visitors.
Samir found the scene ideal to be captured in his unique format of 'Feltpenillism', and he did so using colourful felt-pens.
