Alongside his sculptural practice, Rajesh Ram’s oil paintings and watercolours offer another way into the landscapes, people and moments that have continued to shape his work.
From intimate scenes of everyday life to curious encounters between people, animals and their surroundings, these works carry the same sense of observation that runs through his sculptures. His subjects remain rooted in lived experience, while the fluidity of paint and watercolour allows for a more immediate, atmospheric exploration of them.
Across both mediums, Rajesh’s attention remains drawn to the ordinary — the gestures, characters and fleeting moments that become carriers of memory.
As Ina Puri (Ina Puri)writes, “Rajesh has that keen ability to transform the ordinary into the exceptional.”
