Images hold more than what they reveal. They carry fragments of memory, traces of lived experience, and possibilities that emerge when the familiar is seen anew.

We’re pleased to announce that our represented artist Zahra Yazdani will be part of the Bengal Biennale 2026, presenting her work at Alipore Museum, Kolkata. Working across photography, video, artist books and installation, Yazdani creates layered narratives that move between reality and imagination.

Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Dussehra, celebrating the triumph of good over evil and the enduring legacy of the stories that have shaped our cultural imagination.

Rooted in Odisha’s rich craft traditions, these masks of Rama, Hanuman and Jambavan bring characters from the Ramayana into vivid form. Through intricate carving, expressive features and bold colours, each face carries the spirit of a story passed down through generations.

This Dussehra, we celebrate the artists and living traditions that keep these stories, and the values they hold, alive.

What makes Long Short Stories a show worth spending time with?

In this conversation, Bhavna Kakar and Waswo X. Waswo discuss the ideas behind the exhibition, the stories that unfold across its works, and what makes Waswo’s practice so distinctive.

Moving between photography, traditional miniature painting and imagined narratives, the exhibition blurs the boundaries between history and fiction, observation and participation, and the stories we inherit and those that remain untold.

Watch Bhavna and Waswo talk about the exhibition, then come experience Long Short Stories for yourself.

On view at LATITUDE 28, Defence Colony, New Delhi, until 20 November 2026.

LATITUDE 28 artists at TAKSHANAM | NGMA, New Delhi

Our artists Sudipta Das and Juhikadevi Bhanjdeo are part of Takshanam, a sculpture exhibition at the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi, inaugurated by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Government of India.

Inspired by the Sanskrit root takṣ (तक्ष्), meaning to carve, shape and fashion, Takshanam reflects on sculpture as an evolving process shaped by the interplay of thought, experience, material and form. Bringing together works by artists across generations and artistic practices, the exhibition highlights the dynamic relationship between India’s rich sculptural heritage and contemporary innovation.

Peter Nagy, founder of Nature Morte, leaves behind an indispensable legacy of radical vision and uncompromising generosity in the contemporary art world. It will continue to shape how Indian contemporary art is seen and valued across the globe.

Arriving in the national capital New Delhi, India as an outsider with an eye of an artist and a nerve of a dealer, he recognised the intellectual depth of a generation working far ahead of the market. Through Nature Morte he insisted on conceptual framework at a time when such forms still struggled for institutional legitimacy.

He brought a critical and irreverent perspective that refused convention to cultivate friendships and exchanges, which made the art world far more interesting.

We at LATITUDE 28 & TAKE are deeply saddened by his passing. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, the team at Nature Morte, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

Nine nights. Nine forms of the Divine Feminine. Nine expressions of Shakti.

Navratri celebrates the many manifestations of the feminine divine, honouring the strength, courage, wisdom and compassion that each embodies.

This Navratri, we feature Devi Goes to Japan by Neha Sahai, an artist whose practice brings together autobiography, memory and imagination through a distinctive visual language of recurring figures and intimate, self-contained worlds.

As Neha puts it, “Well, when everyone is going to Japan, why shouldn’t my Devi?”

And so, Devi returns with an indigo-dyed saree, a block-printed scarf, a velvet obi belt, cherry blossoms and a traditional bira-bira hairpin. A playful journey across cultures, imagined through the artist’s own visual world.

There are other stories. Not in history. Forgotten, yet meaningful. Lost.

For Waswo X. Waswo, these stories live somewhere between history and memory, fact and invention. His practice brings together photography, self-portraiture and traditional miniature painting to construct narratives around the outsider, the observer, and the worlds they encounter.

In Long Short Stories, these fragments take the form of a fictional tale of a Dandy, a Prince, an Ancient City, friendship, rivalry and exile, stories that exist beyond the official record, carried instead through memory, imagination and the act of telling.

Waswo X. Waswo, an American artist who has spent more than two decades in India - his practice has always occupied an interesting space between looking and being looked at. Working through photography, self-portraiture and traditional miniature painting, he builds worlds where the outsider is rarely just an observer.

His recurring figure, the Dandy, moves through imagined histories, encounters, friendships, rivalries and exiles, blurring the line between fact and fiction, the personal and the historical. His long-standing collaborations with miniature painters in Udaipur further complicate that gaze, turning the tools once used to observe and classify the “other” into instruments of storytelling.

In his upcoming exhibition, Long Short Stories, these fragments come together as a fictional tale of a Dandy, a Prince, an Ancient City and the stories that history chose not to keep. Opening this weekend at Latitude 28.
