चेरथला, केरल। मुंबई में आज महिलाओं के लिए स्वाभिमान की लड़ाई लड़ने वाली केरल की उस महिला को याद किया जिसने स्तनों को ढंकने के विरोध में अपनी जान दे दी थी। इस महिला ने केरल में सैकड़ों वर्ष पहले लगाए जाने वाले स्तन कर के खिलाफ आवाज उठाते हुए अपनी जान ही कुर्बान कर दी थी। इस महिला को नांगेली के नाम से जाना जाता था।

एक समय पर केवल में सार्वजनिक तौर पर अपने स्तनों को ढक कर रखने की इच्छा रखने वाली महिलाओं से मुलक्करम या स्तन कर वसूला जाता था। तब लोगों ने ऐसे कानून बनाए थे जो बर्बर और अमानवीय थे लेकिन उनका विरोध करने वाला कोई नहीं था। ऐसे में नांगेली ने अपना बलिदान देकर महिलाओं के सम्मान की रक्षा के लिए आगे आई।

पुराने जमाने में आदमियों ने ऐसे कई कानून बनाए थे जो मानवीयता के खिलाफ थे, लेकिन उनके खिलाफ बोलने की हिम्मत किसी में नहीं थी। केरल में वह समय ऐसा था जब गरीब महिलाओं को अपने स्तन ढकने के लिए राजा को कर चुकाना पड़ता था। नांगेली ने तय किया कि वह त्रावणकोर के राजा द्वारा लगाए जाए अमानवीय कर अदा नहीं करेगी।

नांगेली का स्थानीय भाषा में मतलब होता है, 'खूबसूरत।' तकरीबन 30 के आस-पास की उम्र की नांगेली समाज के 'निचले' माने जाने वाले तबके से आती थी। जब स्थानीय कर अधिकारी (या परवथियार) बकाया ब्रेस्ट टैक्स वसूलने के लिए बार-बार नांगेली के घर आ रहा था तो उसने परवथियार को शांति से इंतजार करने के लिए कहा। नांगेली ने फिर केले का पत्ता सामने फर्श पर रखा, प्रार्थना की, दीप जलाया और फिर अपने दोनों स्तन काट डाले।

चेरथला में नांगेली ने जिस जगह पर यह बलिदान दिया था, उसे मुलाचिपा राम्बु कहते हैं। मलयालम में इसका मतलब 'महिला के स्तन की भूमि' होता है। हालांकि स्थानीय लोग यह नाम लेने से हिचकते हैं। आजकल ज्यादातर लोग इसे 'मनोरमा कवला' कहते हैं। कवला का मतलब होता है जंक्शन। नांगेली के बलिदान के बाद ब्रेस्ट टैक्स का बर्बर कानून हटा लिया गया।

केरल के चेरथला में हर कोई नांगेली की कहानी जानता है। नांगेली ने उस वक्त निचली जाति की महिलाओं के लगातार हो रहे उत्पीड़न के खिलाफ आवाज उठाने में अपना जीवन न्योछावर कर दिया था। उन्हें अपने स्तन ढकने के अधिकार के लिए टैक्स देना होता था। जितने बड़े स्तन होते थे, टैक्स की रकम उतनी ज्यादा होती थी। The story of a lower caste woman who cut her breasts to protest against a discriminatory "breast tax" in British ruled India is being revived by an artist wants to recognise her sacrifice. The story of Nangeli may never have been known, but for a chance discovery.

Four years ago, artist Murali T was flipping through an in-house magazine of a local bank, when he stumbled on a small report about Nangeli, written by a native from her area, Cherthala.

Intrigued by the story, he made his way to the small sleepy town.

"I spent a lot of time with the local people of Cherthala and even found the locality where Nangeli is believed to have lived over 100 years ago.

Complete survey on how India watches p**n MEN AND WOMEN....Pornhub Survey Reveals That Women Are Now Expressing Their Desires Openly
A new study done on data released by Pornhub, one of the most popular adult entertainment websites in India, and published in the online magazine Quartz, brings out many unknown facts about the sexual preferences and p**n-watching habits of Indians.
Close to 47.5 per cent of Indians log on to the p**n website from their desktops, while 49.9 per cent use their mobile phones. After the US and UK, Pornhub's third highest Android traffic comes from India, while Indians make up the fifth highest number of daily visitors to the website.

Only 2.6 per cent Indians use tablets to watch p**n, although the global average for tablet usage to access p**n is much higher at 11 per cent.
👩‍🎓The 2017 Pornhub Year in Review, the yearly survey by p**n website Pornhub is out and it has spilled out a lot of information on p**n viewing across the world. Complete with analytical reports and graphs, the survey reconfirmed some older facts and surprised us with some new information. USA is still the top consumer and the UK following close behind. However, the surprise was India sneaking to the third position with 28.5 billion visitors, which means 81 million visitors a day on an average! Another surprising fact revealed in this survey is that women are a major contributor to the p**n viewership. The latest category ‘Porn for Women’ could be the reason for a growth in women visitors as it became quite popular across the globe.

These Shocking Stats Show How India Wastes More Than ₹92,000 Crore Every Year Without Batting An Eye

At some point of time or other, you must have come across a group of urchins looking for food leftovers in the dustbin. It is indeed a common sight. Now hold on to that picture in your mind and read this -

According to Hindustan Times, around 67 million tonnes of food is wasted in India every year, which has a value of around Rs 92,000 crore. And it's enough to feed all of Bihar for a year.
This value equals nearly two-thirds of the amount that the government needs to feed 600 million poor Indians with subsidised ration under the National Food Security programme.

Here are some more alarming facts that show how much food wastage there actually is:

1. India wastes as much food as is consumed by the United Kingdom, says the CSR journal.

2. According to a written statement given to the parliament in 2013 by former agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, nearly 40% of the total produce is wasted every year in the country.

3. Each year, around 21 million metric tonnes of wheat rots in India. The figure is almost equal to Australia's total annual production.

4. To produce the food which ultimately gets wasted, India is estimated to use more than 230 cubic kilometres of fresh water annually, enough to provide drinking water to 100 million people a year.

And these figures aren't just affecting the nation's economy and the environment. This grim reality points out another major issue in India, i.e. hunger.
