At the call of the JNU Teachers' Association (JNUTA), more than a thousand students, teachers, non-teaching staff and alumni marched in the University campus on Friday, 10 February 2017 in defence of JNU's Admission Policy which is being sought to be scuttled by the JNU administration under RSS diktats. The anti-student UGC gazette notification of 5 May 2016 is being used by the JNU administration to impose massive seat cuts in JNU - if the notification is implemented, there is likely to be zero admissions in the M.Phil./Ph.D. programmes of many centres in JNU for several years to come. The JNU Vice-Chancellor is also trying to destroy the social justice component of the admission policy, and to tamper with faculty selection committees so as to facilitate the recruitment of Sangh cronies as teachers in JNU.
