As the Delhi heat sets in and the city retreats indoors, Triveni Kala Sangam finds its own rhythm of calm. While the pace slows down, our creative energy shifts toward our annual summer workshops, designed to keep both children and adults deeply engaged with the arts during the vacation months.
Did you know that Triveni hosted ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐๐ก๐๐ซ๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ก๐๐ฉ๐๐ญ๐ซ๐ to take workshops at the institution, at a time, when the idea of workshops was relatively new in Delhi?
Guru Kelucharan Mohapatraโs association with Triveni Kala Sangam began in the early 1970s. His disciple, renowned Odissi dancer, Kumkum Lal approached Triveniโs Founder-Director, Mrs.Sundari K. Shridharani, who provided Guruji a classroom for teaching.
Amar Shridharani, Hony. Gen. Secretary of Triveni Kala Sangam recalls that his mother, Mrs.Sundari Shridharani went to great lengths to bring exceptional talent to Triveni. When Guruji initially hesitated to join as faculty, she persuaded him to stay on campus and hold workshops during his visits, ensuring students had access to his teaching even on a part-time basis.
During his annual workshops at Triveni, Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra taught several students who would later become notable dancers, including Charu Mathur, Sheela Raj, Madhavi Mudgal, and Mrs.Shridharaniโs own daughter, Kavita Shridharani.
