Recharging with an 11-taka card gave you 100 SMS.
Each SMS had a character limit.
If you ran out of balance mid-conversation, there was no option to recharge online.
So every word was chosen with care.
To type a single 's', you had to press the keypad four times.
Yet, no one was bothered by it.
If a message got too long, it had to be split and sent in parts.
There were no issues with green ticks.
You couldn’t even tell if someone was online or offline.
After sending each SMS, you had to wait a few minutes for a reply.
You’d save messages just to say good night and good morning.
There were no emojis back then.
Emotions had to be felt and understood.
