The door to the workshop was looking a bit dull. So after nearly 5 years of not having done any maintenance on it I decided to give it a couple of coats of laquer (which was the original finish). Some sanding with 220 grit paper and 2 coats of finish later. It looks as good as new.
I made this door back in 2015 when i was just starting with woodworking. This along with my 20 foot long dining table (A post on that soon) were probably the first 2 projects i did and the ones that actually got me hooked onto woodworking.
The door is quite a hefty thing made from teak and hung using 2 custom smaug shaped hinges made from 6mm mild steel (which i still cannot believe i cut using only a hacksaw and couple of files) and took over a month complete.
The door itself is 7 feet in diameter and that perhaps is my favorite part, an in I don't have to use two separate dimensions (width and height) to communicate the size of the door. :-)
PS: The walls around this look quite shoddy and clearly need to be painted. Its a never ending circle.
PPS: Someone should have told me that angle grinders are really not that expensive. Would have saved me weeks of using the hacksaw. So to anyone else working with metal. Just get an angle grinder its so so much easier.
