Noted Indian classical vocalist, musicologist and academician Prof. Mangala Kapoor has been honoured with the Padma Shri. Trained in the Gwalior Gharana, she has made significant contributions to Indian classical music through performance, pedagogy and research. She has authored five books on music and founded the Professor Mangala Kapoor Foundation, which provides free education to the needy.
