Rajasthani Folk Songs Preserving Rajasthan’s Folk Music Heritage.
राजस्थान की लोकसंगीत विरासत का संरक्षण I am a curious learner and a devoted listener of Rajasthani folk music.

My journey is guided by love for this timeless tradition and deep respect for the countless folk communities who have carried it through generations — including the Langa–Manganiyar, and many others whose names I may not even know. This page and website are my humble efforts to preserve and document this heritage, to capture what was never written, and to share these folk gems with anyone who seek

s to listen or learn. There is no motive of name, fame, or money — only a sincere wish to contribute, in whatever small way I can, to the artists and the art that have enriched our lives.

Some Rajasthani folk songs don’t directly say what they feel… they hide emotions in symbols. 🌾

“Ghodaliyo / घोडलियो” is one such rare gem — where a queen admires the royal horse, but emotionally longs for her king. From the stable, horse sounds, fort pathways to “भंवर” — every line carries hidden virah and royal longing.

Spent hours decoding its oral nuances and meanings.

🚩 Jai Rajasthan | Rajasthan Divas 2026
"Sone Ri Dharti, Jathe Chandi Ro Aasman,
Rang Rangeelo, Ras Bharyo, Mharo Pyaro Rajasthan."

Did you know Rajasthan Divas was always meant to be celebrated TODAY — not 30th March?
For 75 years, a colonial calendar hid the true soul of our founding day. This year, we celebrate on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada — the Hindu New Year — exactly as Sardar Patel intended in 1949. 🙏

Things about Rajasthan that will stop you mid-scroll:
🏰 The wall of Kumbhalgarh Fort is 36 km long — the world's second longest wall after China. Your school textbook never told you that.
⚔️ Maharana Pratap ate grass rotis in the jungle for years — and still reclaimed his kingdom. His horse Chetak died saving him. Both are immortal.
🎵 Emperor Akbar disguised himself as a pilgrim just to hear Mirabai sing. A Mughal emperor. Humbled. By a Rajput saint-poet.
🙏 360 temples sit inside Kumbhalgarh Fort alone. Ranakpur's Jain temple has 1,444 pillars — no two alike.
🌿 Rajasthan is the most vegetarian region on earth — 75% of its people. And its food — Dal Baati Churma, Ker Sangri, Ghevar — is proof that a desert can feed a soul.
👑 The kingdoms are gone. But Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur, Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar of Udaipur, Gajendra Singh of Rohet — the flame burns on.

The whole internet cannot hold Rajasthan in full.
But we tried. 👇

🌸 गणगोर — एक पुकार, एक परंपरा, एक प्रेम। 🌸
Gangaur — eighteen days of devotion, adornment, and longing. Worshipping Gan (Shiva) and Gaur (Parvati) — the most divine union. Married women pray for their husband's long life, unmarried girls surrender to Maa Gauri — trusting her divine wisdom to bless them with the right life partner, just as she herself chose the most supreme.
But beyond the ritual — it's a festival that belongs to the women, sung by the women, lived by the women.
Every village celebrates it a little differently. Every grandmother had her own way. Every household had its own song.
And that's exactly what we want to know from YOU —
🙏 How was Gangaur celebrated in YOUR village — not the city, not the region — YOUR gali, YOUR mohalla, YOUR gaon?
🌸 What did your Nani or Dadi do that nobody else did?
🎶 Was there a song, a ritual, a food, a moment — that still stays with you?
💬 Drop it in the comments. Every memory shared here is a piece of living heritage.
More to follow as the stories unfold... 🌸
