I was fortunate enough, by mere coincidence, to meet Torill Kove who is an Oscar winning Canadian and animation film-maker. She was holding a work shop at Kala Ghoda that explored illustrating for children.Lazily and and half asleep I browsed through Kala Ghoda's schedule brochure(Which I procured half heartedly the day before) and spotted the event via keywords such as 'Illustrating',' Oscar' and 'children's'.
I barely made it on time for the workshop, rushing to get there in an hours time from Andheri. All this seemed fitting because the central themes of her work included things like chance, coincidence, lucky brakes and missed opportunities.
So after a thoroughly enjoyable workshop, I nervously approached her with the children's book that I had done.
She was very encouraging, said"this is really good" and pointed out the things she liked about it, things that i didn't know held any merit at all.Very very cool stuff I thought to myself, for a book so raw and short.
