Meet the artist for our next exhibition at TARQ! Rah Naqvi (he/they) is an Indian artist currently based in Amsterdam. Their work engages in narratives themed around religious and societal polarization, often using art as a tool to question structural hegemonies. The materiality and techniques in their work are at play to create familiarity with the viewer; with satire, whimsical props, and themes of softness, you are made to believe something joyous awaits.

Rah uses this familiarity, these grounds for communion to navigate more complex and dynamic subjects of belonging and imposed colonial identities. The language of q***r defiance extends to their practice of singing, alluding to the polyphonic nature of love and revolution while cautioning against the monotony of a choiceless future.

Rah has exhibited their work in several solo and group exhibitions, in India and abroad. Most recently, they were recognized in ART India’s Looking Ahead: 30 under 30 in 2026.

Join us for the opening of Rah’s solo exhibition 'and the trees sing resistance songs' at TARQ this Thursday, from 6 to 9 pm. The exhibition continues until 23 May 2026.

This is the last week to catch Ronny Sen’s solo exhibition 'The Sun Rises in the East'. The work centres on the discovery of a wooden dog – an early analog AI learning machine built in the 1940s – now a companion to a sixteen-year-old boy in an abandoned airfield.

What has the machine learned over more than a century?

If you haven’t already, do drop by to experience the show in person – on view until Saturday, 18 April.

‘The Sun Rises in the East’
Notes written by Ronny Sen during visits to an abandoned airfield in Bengal, winter 2045.

"The next day I stood near a watchtower. The dog ran up and down the stairs quickly. The structure was once used to monitor incoming aircraft. Now it looks out over trees and abandoned concrete. Someone has given the dog a name. They call it Boro Babu. In Bengal it refers to the officer in charge of a police station. It carries a faint tone of authority. People smile when they say it, though it is not entirely clear why."

‘The Sun Rises in the East’ is on view at TARQ until 18 April 2026.

“Water has become a persistent political question…” Swipe to read an excerpt from Ronny Sen’s ‘The Sun Rises in the East’.

Set in 2045, the work reflects on the afterlives of technology and the uneasy relationship between learning systems and human survival.

On view at TARQ through 18 April 2026.

Blurring research, fiction, and image-making, Ronny Sen travels to abandoned airfields in Bengal. These sites, located on the eastern edge of the British Empire, were once used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and the Royal Air Force (RAF), where B-29 bombers that later dropped the nuclear bombs on Japan were operational in the 1940s.

Against this backdrop, he constructs a speculative narrative, setting out in search of a surviving analogue AI machine built as a covert weapon system in the form of a wooden dog, in the company of a sixteen-year-old boy.
