Profile and Recognition- Pandita Anuradha Pal is globally recognized as one of the most accomplished and versatile Tabla virtuosos, excelling in Indian Classical, Fusion, Contemporary Percussion, and scoring. Hailed by the Limca Book of Records as the world’s first professional female Tabla player (1991), Anuradha was honoured by PM Modi as ‘Bharat-ki-Laxmi’ (2019), received the President’s First Ladies’ Award (2018), and Maharashtra’s Sanskritic Puraskar (2006). Milestones and Global Collaboration - Presenting traditional Tabla solos and accompanying legends like Ustad Zakir Hussain and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Anuradha has performed over 5,000 concerts across 40 countries, mesmerizing 550,000+ fans at festivals including Woodstock, Voices of the World, SAARC, CHOGM, Festival of India, and Darbar. She has collaborated with global ensembles such as the Pan-African Orchestra, Vienna Boys Choir, Latin Jazz groups, Flamenco, Indonesian, and Turkish folk music and dance. Anuradha’s live Tabla and music curation for the Dior Fashion Show ’23 and her viral Spotify track ‘Kautilya’ have reached over 50 million viewers worldwide. Her Signature innovations include SOLO Jugalbandis (“One artist, two Tablas… Infinite emotions”), and leading three distinct bands — Stree Shakti, Recharge, and Epic Tabla Stories — along with thematic creations like Ramayan-on-Tabla, Shiv-Shakti, Krishna-ke-Taal, Atmanirbhar Utsav, and Vocal4Local. Despite no musical lineage, Anuradha Pal overcame gender bias, nepotism, and groupism to create Stree Shakti, the world’s first all-female Hindustani-Carnatic band (1996). Their debut at WOMAD Festival 1999, broadcast live by the BBC to 56 countries, earned praise from Sting as “the Indian Spice Girls!” Over 25 years, she has provided platforms for 100+ female artists, empowering youth and inspiring dreams worldwide. As composer and producer, Anuradha has created 75+ tracks across classical, spiritual, fusion, EDM, folk, and New Age genres, and composed for films including M.F. Her patriotic music videos — Taal-Tiranga, Dancing Rain, and Bharat-Vandan — were broadcast in 200+ Indian missions. She is Brand Ambassador of Beti Padhao Beti Bachao and UNICEF and composed & produced the Nari Shakti anthem for WCD ministry gratis, for Bharat. Learning Benares Gharana Tabla and singing since age six, performing solos by nine, and accompanying maestros by thirteen under the guidance of Ustads Alla Rakha and Zakir Hussain, playing 6 traditional gharanas. Anuradha Pal was hailed as “Lady Zakir Hussain” at seventeen. She launched the world’s first digital Tabla course in 2003, mentors students via APCA – Aapka Gurukul and teaches at universities like Harward, MIT, New England conservatory, Milapfest, SAA-UK & others in Europe, Japan and India. Through APCF Foundation, she has curated 50+ festivals, aided marginalized communities across 20 states and impacted 27,000+ people through Healing Tabla Experience & Wellness Workshops.
