Sounds of Silence - Based on the life of Ludwig Van Beethoven

The Play:
This is a play based on the life of Ludwig Van Beethoven. It is a touching, heartwarming story of a great musician, pianist and composer of western classical music, who lived in the 18th century. His loves, passion and music are brought to life as his life saga unfolds from a 9 year old boy to the ebb of his life- deaf, sick,

yet composing the best work of his life. Why Beethoven? It is important that although Beethoven is alienated from our generation, his story and method are very relevant. He was a man with a modern rebellious mind. Take the first movement of the 5th Symphony. He built a seven minute movement almost entirely around a single, rhythmically repetitive idea – making it like rap music. Beethoven connected his third and fourth movement together, thereby forever changing the way that symphonies were viewed and constructed. Something we now find as a quality of a good music producer. Beethoven is relevant, because his story is that of a young, rebellious, modern mind.
