Shattering Stereotypes: Empowering Divorced Women in Our Society
Dear Members of Our Society,
Today, I want to address an issue that continues to persist despite our progress towards a more inclusive and compassionate society: the unfair stigma surrounding divorced women. It is disheartening to witness how, in many instances, divorced women are still looked down upon, judged, and marginalized due to their marital status. As a community, it is essential that we challenge these harmful stereotypes and foster an environment of empathy, understanding, and support for all individuals, regardless of their relationship status.
Divorce is a difficult and emotionally challenging process for anyone involved. Instead of condemning or ostracizing those who have gone through it, we should strive to be more compassionate and offer our support. Divorced women are resilient individuals who have faced life-altering decisions, and their journey should be acknowledged with respect and admiration for their strength.
It is vital to recognize that a woman's worth is not defined solely by her marital status. Her value lies in her character, talents, achievements, and the positive contributions she makes to our society. By promoting equality and understanding, we can work towards eradicating the prejudiced mindset that demeans divorced women.
Let us also acknowledge that divorce can happen for a myriad of reasons, and casting judgment without understanding the complexities of each situation is unjust. Every individual's story is unique, and rather than assuming, let us lend a listening ear and a helping hand to those who might be going through a difficult phase in their lives.
As a society, we must take collective responsibility for dismantling these harmful stereotypes.

Pratiksha Tondwalkar, who joined State Bank of India as a Sweeper is an Assistant General Manager today. Her journey from a Sweeper to an AGM was not easy.

‎Pratiksha was born in a very poor family. She studied till std 7 and was married when she was just 17 years old. Her husband was working as a ‘binder’ in SBI. But after 3 years of her marriage, her husband passed away and Pratiksha was left all alone. This is when she started working as a sweeper at SBI. Pratiksha, while working at her temporary job, also started studying. She knew that education was the only way to the next post and a permanent job.‎

Pratiksha passed her 10th exams and got the role of a ‘Messenger’ at SBI. While still working, she also completed his graduation from SNDT College and got promoted as a ‘Clerk’. She then cracked an internal exam at SBI in the first attempt and was selected as a ‘Trainee Officer’. After this, there was no looking back for her. Step by step, she advanced towards an ‘Officer’ post. She has now received the position of ‘Assistant General Manager’ and will move from Pune to Mumbai’s SBI branch.

May her journey inspire many others.

Thank you for sharing this Jayesh Sampat

“Few things in the world are more powerful than a positive push. A smile. A world of optimism and hope. “These three young teens namely Ritigya Agarwal- 14 years old from Welham Girls’ School, Kayraa Garg- 14 years old from Mayo College Girls’ School and Sharanya Goel- 13 years old from Welham Girls’ School have undertaken a noble cause by selling our artwork and giving away the money raised to Covid Patients.

As narrated by them:
Living in such a time like this, seeing people lose their lives, suffering through pain was really overwhelming and it gave us a reason to help all those in need. One way led to another and caused us to question ourselves what can we do to contribute towards this?
This was our rough start to an upcoming covid fundraiser and that was when Paa Pita originated. We got a great response and managed to raise over 1 lakh within a week. This entire experience has been a great learning and we would like to take it up further.
In conclusion, we would like to thank all our mothers who supported and motivated us throughout and this wouldn’t have been possible without them!

What do you see?
A woman posing for a picture?

I see a woman who is a daughter , a sister , a friend and above all a mother. I see a woman with over 45 years of a life lived well with scars to show. I see a woman who has had her share of laughs tears and falls and is still standing.

I see a woman who has been criticised ridiculed questioned and hurt and she still smiles . I see a strong woman who needs no validation and lives her life on her own terms.

They say Today is Women's Day. I say each day is My day.
To all the women in my circle I say kudos and more power to you..be yourself❤️
