This piece started as a pot, but instead of giving it a traditional shape, I decided to give it the form of a female body. I wanted to explore how a simple vessel could also represent a woman and everything she carries within her.
I started the pot on the wheel and then shaped it mainly by pinching and hand-building. Once the basic form was created, I continued pinching and shaping the clay from the inside with my hands. Slowly, I pushed and formed the clay to create the curves of the female body. This process allowed the final shape to develop naturally through touch and pressure rather than being perfectly symmetrical.
The pot becomes a symbol of the female bodyβa vessel that can hold memories, emotions, experiences, dreams, strength, and love. The opening of the pot represents the inner world that we cannot always see.
The figure is meant to represent women in a more universal way. The curves focus on the form of the body rather than a specific identity or ideal shape.
The crackled glaze represents the experiences and pressures that shape us. The cracks show that imperfections are a natural part of life and can also be beautiful. The glossy surface represents what we see on the outside, while the cracks remind us that there is always a deeper story underneath.
For me, this work is both a pot and a female figure. It is a vessel that holds more than just an objectβit holds a story.
The body becomes the vessel, the cracks become memories, and the empty space inside represents everything that remains unseen.
