A cross-cultural work, where disparate journeys come together in a celebration of q***rness, love and resistance.

We are incredibly grateful for an unforgettable world premiere of The Monk & The Warrior written by Mahesh Dattani and conceived & directed by Jonathan Taikina Taylor at the National Centre of Performing Arts (NCPA) , Mumbai.

To everyone who came to see the show, those who supported from afar, and q***r folks in India and around the world - thank you.

A special thanks to NCPA for partnering with us on this production and having us in the wonderful Experimental Theatre. A huge thank you to QTP for their incredible commitment and hard work line producing the show. And we are endlessly grateful to our community partner the Gaysi Family for joining us on this journey and helping hold space for this work.

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! Thanks to your support we are one step closer to our tour of The Monk & The Warrior in India this April.

But we’re not there yet! We still need your help.

We are scrappy. An artist led org, we know how to beg, borrow, & sweet talk our way to opening night. Our team mostly runs on fumes, a few well placed paperclips, and the promise of a well lit stage.

We’re going on tour. Yelp!

After five years of collaboration with a gaggle of gorgeous artists we are stoked to announce that The Monk & The Warrior is going on tour in India. This giving Tuesday we’re kicking off our very first fundraising campaign because we need your support to help make it happen.

Jonathan recently spent time in Mumbai with playwright Mahesh Dattani. Here is a sneak peak of their conversation where Jonathan ruminates on how we found our name.

Devising workshop for ‘Record’ a new play co-directed by Megan Paradis-Hanley and Jonathan Taikina Taylor
Development intensive of ‘The Monk & The Warrior’ with playwright Mahesh Dattani in India. We’ve partnered with local producers to realise this play to performance through a multicity tour of India.

Residencia de Dramaturgia Studio Weeks 2025 es una residencia creativa de una semana diseñada para apoyar el desarrollo de nuevas obras de dramaturgas y dramaturgues q***r de la comunidad de Teatro La Plaza. El programa brinda tiempo, apoyo económico y una plataforma para historias que con demasiada frecuencia han sido excluidas del canon teatral global. A través de un enfoque flexible y personalizado, Studio Weeks acompaña formas alternativas de trabajo y procesos creativos que no siempre encajan en un modelo de producción convencional.

Durante la próxima semana, estaremos destacando a las notables dramaturgas y dramaturgues que participan en el programa.

We are thrilled to be collaborating with as part of their Festival to bring The SuperGeographics’ Studio Weeks program to Lima.

Residencia de Dramaturgia Studio Weeks 2025 is a week-long creative residency designed to support the development of new plays by women and q***r playwrights from the Teatro La Plaza community. The program provides time, funding, and a platform for stories that have too often been excluded from the global theater canon. Through a flexible and personalized approach, Studio Weeks supports alternative ways of working and creative processes that do not always align with a conventional production model.

Over the coming week, we’ll be highlighting the remarkable playwrights taking part in the program!

We are thrilled to announce that we are an Organization in Residence on Governors Island for the 2025 season! 

As part of the Governors Island Arts’ annual Organizations in Residence program, we are making 5B Nolan Park our company home. If you’re in NY come pop by for a visit!

Governors Island Arts creates transformative encounters with art for all New Yorkers, inviting artists and audiences to engage in the context of the Island’s landscape and history.

We’re honored to join over two dozen NYC-based arts nonprofits in this vibrant cultural community, and we can’t wait to share our work with you in this unique setting.
