In Mithila’s villages, a woman leaving her home is always sent off with Doobdhan — a fistful of rice, symbolising fertility and abdundance. When Ketki returns to her village years after she was married off at the age of 15, what once felt familiar, now feels foreign to her. The play ‘Doobdhan’ was adpated from the novel of the same name written by Padmashri Dr. Usha Kiran Khan.
