Fact #16 :-
Karna’s wife: The Outcast Queen

How far is this novel relevant enough to be considered real?
For those of you who aren’t aware of this mind-boggling book, it’s a novel written by Kavita Kane which spotlights the lifestyle of a princess named Uruvi, who was married to Karna as one of his least/only known Kshatriya wives. Even though there are several folk tales (especially in the south where Uruvi’s name is claimed to be Ponnuruvi), there hasn’t been much speech given over the ‘love life’ of the eldest son of Kunti.
Perhaps it’s true that Karna had over 9 children, but the only women who are spoken to be his spouses are mainly Vrushali (Adhiratha’s friend’s daughter) and Supriya, who is known to be a friend of Bhanumati (Duryodhan’s wife).
You may go through the text in the attachment to get the engaging plot of the fictitious book as well..😇

Fact #15 B: How did Kunti identify for the first time that the charioteer’s son was Karn ?

Well, this is a very interesting topic to be discussed, and to elaborate this, Kunti saw the grown up Karn in the arena which had been held to test the strength and war tactics of the returned Pandavas and Kauravas. At a point, Kunti observed that Karn’s body was shining reallly very brightly in the presence of sunlight, and when an arrow passed his hand without injuring him, she instantly understood that it was the same son which she had abandoned due to her teenage. She at once fell unconscious, for she wasn’t prepared mentally to take up the challenge of meeting and reuniting with her eldest, lost biological son again.
The picture depicts a painting when Karn met Kunti and cleared all f their misunderstandings before the Great War.

Fact #15 A: Was Karn aware of the fact that he was adopted ?

Well, this is a long debatable topic with varied results. If you go by what the telvision series state, you might say that the answer to this question is a straight ‘no’. Well that’s not the thing which will apply here.
Actually, according to Ved Vyas’s writings and some of the books which I have read, Karn was told about his birth secret during his teenage to avoid conflicts in the later part of his life. However, both of his parents, Adhirath and Radha, weren’t aware of the fact that he was the son of Kunti, or rather, a Kshatriya.

Fact #14: Truth about the names of Kauravas

You know, all of the Kauravas, like Duryodhan, dushasan, dushasan etc etc etc werent the real names of King Dhritarashtra. Yes ! Actually, they were named Suyodhan, sushasan, sushala(dushala) and so on. In Hindi or Sanskrit, the suffix ‘su’ means good, and so, these were the names given by Dhritarashtra
The thing is, The name given to the eldest son of Dhritarashtra was Suyodhan. After learning from guru Dronacharya, He went to learn more of mace fighting from Lord Krishna’s elder brother, Balram. He became so nice in it that once he even defeated the latter in a brutal fight. Balram was impressed by his achievement and named him Duryodhan, which meant “ who cannot be defeated much easily”. In Hindi, it can be translated as -“दुष्कर है जिसके साथ युद्ध करना “.
However, when historians looked back in this time, Duryodhan was actually used as Suyodhan’s name, even though it is a nickname. In Sanskrit, du means evil or bad.

Life Fact #13: Karna Versus Arjun & LIFE

While the *Battle of Kurushetra was at its peak, Arjuna and Karna were fighting each other.* It was a battle to witness, a flurry of arrows were being exchanged, and even Gods were witnessing this epic battle between the 2 warriors.

Arjuna would shoot his arrows and the impact of these arrows would be so much that Karna’s chariot would go back by 25-30 feet. People who witnessed this were amazed by the skills of Arjuna.

Karna was no less. When he shot arrows, Arjuna’s chariot would also shake and go back by 3-4 feet.

More than everyone, Krishna would applaud Karna every time his arrow hit Arjuna’s chariot. But not once did He applaud Arjuna’s skills !

At the end of the day, Arjuna asked Krishna: “Oh Lord, I have shot so many arrows at Karna’s chariot, it was being displaced like a feather in wind, but not once did you appreciate me. Rather, you would appreciate his skill despite his arrows just displacing my chariot a little”. Krishna smiled and replied “Oh, *Arjuna, remember, your chariot is protected by Hanuman at the top on your flag, Me as your charioteer* in the front and by Sheshnag at its wheels, yet the whole chariot would still sway and displace whenever the valiant Karna hit us with his arrows”. “But Karna’s chariot is not protected by any such force, he is on his own, yet he fights valiantly”
“Never in your life have the arrogance to say that you have achieved big heights. If you have achieved something, it is the divine will,* it is the divine intervention that has always protected you, cleared your path and *given you the right opportunities at the right .

Uttara is regarded as the main wife of Abhimanyu. She was the daughter of King Virat and Queen Sudeshna, and the brother of Uttar. Her age is believed to be same as that of Abhimanyu.

Fact #11: The Role of Vrishasen in MAHABHARAT

In the previous facts, we learnt about the family tree of Karn. There, we also mentioned about the eldest son of Karn, Vrishasen. We are now going to talk about his role in the Kurukshetra War.

Vrishasen entered the battlefield on the Eleventh day of the war with his father, and at the first sight, he encountered the upapandavas. All five of them attacked him, but were severely defeated. This son of Vrushali also played a big role for the death of Abhimanyu. On the fourteenth day, he encountered Drupad, and with his Arrows, he made him unconscious and destroyed his army.
On the Seventeenth day, he faced off Arjun. He was a great warrior who, with his arrows, had hurt Arjun and Krishna. Hurting Krishna was a very rare thing, and Krishna became very happy about his glory. An Angry Arjun shot an arrow which broke his bow. He then shot 4 arrows high seperated all of his limbs away. At last he called Karn and asked him to see his blood’s death and then beheaded Vrishasen. Karn cursed Arjun and challenged him for a battle.

Fact #10(d): Karn’s Abilities

It is believed that Karn was born with the abilities of his half brothers,ie,Pandavas. He was a righteous man(Yudhishthir) with a lot of intelligence(Sahdev)and physical strength(Bheem). He was also quite handsome(Nakul) and very good at archery(Arjun). This is the reason he was able to defeat Bheem easily on the 14th day of the war. He even defeated Yudhishthir, Nakul and sahdev but spared their lives( due to the promise given by him to Kunti).

Fact #10(c): Karn’s Parents and others

Karn was the result of a small mistake of Kunti. She had summoned Surya just to confirm whether the special ‘Mantra’ given by Durvasa was working or not. So, Karn’s biological parents were Kunti and Lord Surya. However, Kunti wasn’t married and in order to protect the respect of her father and herself, she abandoned it by putting Baby Karn in a basket and letting it float the the Ganges.
Karn was brought up by Adhirat Sushen and Radha. Adhirat was the charioteer of Bhishma, and so, Karn was always regarded as a “Sut Putra”. He wasn’t told the fact that he was adopted. After he was adopted, Radha even gave birth to Shon. Very little is known about him in the epic, except for the fact that he died in the hands of Nakul on the first day of the war.

Fact #10(b): Karn's Children

Karn is believed to have 10 children--Vrishasena, Sudama, Vrishaketu, Chitrasen, Satyasen, Sushen, Shatrunjay, Dvipata, Banasen, and Prasen. However, there are several theories which state that Karn had 9 sons, wherein, Prasen and Bansen are same.

Sudama was killed in the chaos made after Draupadi's Swayamwar(When Arjun, as a brahman, won it), when he was just 9 yrs old. Satyaki killed Prasen. Shatrunjay, Dwipata and Vrishasen were shot by the Son of Indra, Arjun. Bheem killed Bansen. Nakul killed Chitrasen, Satyasen and Sushen. The only surviving son of Karn was Vrishaketu, who didn't take part in the war. After Karn's death, he came in the patronage of Pandavas.
