.studio brought together five women who’ve come from different parts of the world and chosen to build their life’s in India

I built five sculptures for them, each shaped from the fragments of how they belong to India.

1: LouLou, born in Belgium, living in Tamil Nadu
She remembers India in flashes: temple bells, monsoon soil, the crunch of an apple bite and the zing of tamarind sweets. Her home is the quiet company of nature.

2: Amandine, born in France, at home in Delhi
Her India is always in motion. A home built between OTP pings and neon taxis, where transit itself feels like belonging.

3: Marie, born French in Libya, at home in Jaipur
A terrace overflowing with bougainvillea. The colour, the chaos, the maximal joy of everyday abundance. Loud, floral, layered, excessive in the very best way.

4: Larissa, born in Brazil, living in Bombay
A batik textile rolled through five countries before being framed in Mumbai. Her homecoming is a suitcase memory turned into a wall of belonging, continuity stitched through travel.

5: Sarah, born in London, at home in Goa
Home is ritual. Scents, tiny archives, a fish necklace from the market, a curious daughter learning from a snake book. A life pieced together through objects & stories.

‘A Space for Self’

This painting explores self-love through self-discovery, capturing the shift from a challenging past into a luminous, creative present. The central figure sits in quiet introspection, the delicate bubble encasing her head symbolizing both protection and expansion—an acknowledgment of past wounds while embracing newfound clarity.

Elements within the scene hold deeper meaning—the checkerboard floor reflects past complexities, while the vibrant world ahead invites growth and possibility. The record player spins nostalgic love songs, carrying echoes of old romances and the promise of love yet to come. A yellow chair in the background symbolizes the invitation for new relationships while honoring old friendships, and the water around her feet represents stepping into new experiences and embracing travel. Surreal mushrooms emerge as symbols of growth, while the self-portrait on the easel becomes a mirror of transformation, encouraging the release of one’s past self.

A celebration of resilience and artistic rebirth, this piece invites viewers to embrace change, creativity, and inner harmony.

We envisioned a brass door infused with the rich heritage of Ekaya’s handwoven sarees, reinterpreting tradition through a contemporary approach. This installation explored the potential of textiles, transforming them into an architectural statement.
This was a celebration of craftsmanship and the endless possibilities of woven narratives 🧵 🪡

Alongside this, we also created a mood board to showcase the creative process behind Ekaya’s contemporary fashion campaigns.
