Some voices never grow old.

They simply become part of our lives.

On the birth anniversary of the legendary Ananda Utsav Cultural Association pays its heartfelt tribute to one of India’s most beloved voices.

Whether in moments of joy, love, longing or celebration, Kishore Kumar’s songs have been the soundtrack of generations. His voice has echoed through homes, pandals and festive gatherings, bringing people together with music, in Hindi, Bengali and many other languages, which remain timeless.

As we prepare for another Durga Puja this year, we celebrate an artist whose songs continue to fill our hearts with happiness and reminds us that every celebration is richer with music.

On the birth centenary year of , Ananda Utsav Cultural Association pays heartfelt tribute to Bengal’s eternal 'Mahanayak'.

Born as Arun Kumar Chattopadhyay in 1926, he was more than a screen icon. Through films such as Saptapadi, Harano Sur, Nayak or Antony Firingee and many many more, he became part of the memories of generations of Bengalis across Bengali movies and some iconic Hindi films too.

Like Durga Puja, his films bring us together through laughter, emotion, evergreen songs, romance and nostalgia.

As Ananda Utsav thrives in the joy and spirit of Puja, we also celebrate the timeless charm of a man who continues to live in every Bengal’s heart and remember him fondly on his death anniversary today.

As we move closer to September and October and Sharad months, our hearts begin to resonate with the anticipation of welcoming Maa Durga.

Members of Cultural Association gathered at Trento Lawns for our first Durga Puja meeting of the year, 2026. The evening was filled with enthusiasm as we discussed this year's theme and volunteered for the various responsibilities.

For Bengalis across the world, Durga Puja is far more than a festival. It is an emotion that binds us to our roots, our traditions and the cultural heritage.

The evening came to a closure with a delightful dinner. As we made our way home, I am certain that each one of us carried a sense of excitement in our hearts and could already hear the rhythmic beats of the pujor dhaak echoing in our minds, reminding us that Maa's arrival is not too far.

There are some friends of who have stood by us since the very beginning. Their unwavering support, encouragement, and goodwill have played a significant role in helping this Pujo grow into what it is today over the last eight years.

One such friend, patron, sponsor, and well-wisher was Sundeep Mehta, ex Zee TV. It is with profound sadness that we share the news of his passing on June 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a dear friend of one of our founders Shoukat Mukherjee and Aditi Majumder Mukherjee

Leaving us in his mid-fifties, Sundeep's departure feels far too soon. He leaves behind a loving family, dear friends, and countless cherished memories that will continue to live on in our hearts.

At Ananda Utsav, we will remember him not only for his warmth, generosity, and ever-friendly nature, but also for his remarkably talented voice, which we had the privilege of hearing and enjoying on many occasions.

People like Sundeep make the world a kinder, brighter, and more beautiful place. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all those whose lives he touched. Our condolences and strength to the loving family.
