Schedule for First Two Weeks of TATA IPL 2024 Announced
The Board of Control for Cricket in India is excited to announce the schedule for the first two weeks of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Spanning from March 22, 2024, to April 7, 2024, this period will see 21 thrilling matches played across 10 vibrant cities. During these two weeks, each team will play between three to five matches, ensuring an action-packed start to the 17th season.
Season Kickoff:
The season will commence with the defending champions and five-time winners, Chennai Super Kings, facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on Friday, March 22, 2024.
First Weekend Highlights:
Saturday Matches:
Afternoon: Punjab Kings vs. Delhi Capitals, hosted by Punjab Kings.
Evening: Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad, hosted by Kolkata Knight Riders.
Sunday Matches:
Afternoon: Rajasthan Royals vs. Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur.
Evening: Gujarat Titans vs. Mumbai Indians, showcasing a clash between the 2022 champions/finalists and the five-time winners.
Special Venue Note:
Delhi Capitals has opted to play their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam, facing Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, March 31, and Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday, April 3.
Government and Security Collaboration:
In light of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India, the BCCI will maintain close collaboration with government and security agencies, adhering to all necessary protocols and advisories. The schedule for the first two weeks will be reevaluated and adjusted as needed, based on the 18th Lok Sabha elections dates. Efforts will be made to finalize the schedule for the remainder of the season in conjunction with local authorities and election polling dates.
