ON THE EDGE OF RAJASTHAN You are driving on a highway where for miles and miles you see the desert stretched to the horizon. Khejadi trees, colourful flowers and nothing except your car. Sounds like a dream ! But yes we have experienced it for continuous 3 days driving from Tanot mata temple to Bakhasar. The beautiful and soft road was like a dream for an Indian who has only seen potholes, heard incessant honking, twists and turns. So this journey was unreal for me.
Met a lot of kind hearted people who opened their doors and fed us, had a lot of delicacies, saw beautiful landscapes, wildlife, experienced winter fog in the morning, summer heat in the noon, wind caressing us all over and rain showers in the evening. It was beyond my imagination like how it happened in Rajasthan. But if you are open to any possibilities, and do not have a deadline to reach back home then nature unfolds its drama.
This route showed clear skies, amazing trees that I never saw even in the forests, very beautiful huts, people celebrating life in the harsh region. This is now my favourite region to travel again. The connection of humans with the animals is a thing to be cherished. Peacocks, camels, and deers were roaming everywhere without fear. What you think about a nation, state or a tourist destination might not be true. Rajasthan is a land of contrast. It overwhelms you with the emptiness and also noise, music and sounds in its cities. Villages dot the horizon like a design in the desert. The Scarcity of water makes it even more precious but at the same time you see numerous beautiful trees, flowers , weeds and even farms into the sand dunes.
Never go with preconceived notion this state will totally blow your mind with it’s beauty and emptiness. This is a story of our travels crossing Rajasthan through its westernmost edge. Do join us in our travels. Will be releasing blogs and videos very soon bit by bit.
